Sunday Sketch | Christine

This week we are offering you TWO sketches...one for cards and one for layouts!! The card sketch is from Joy Taylor's Front Row gallery:

And the layout sketch is from Tina Aszmus' Front Row Gallery:

We invited member Christine (listgirl) to choose one of these to use as a starting point this week, and we love what she came up with!

SS217

Supplies:  Block Party scrapbook kit; Darling Dear Vellum die cut shapes; Simon Says Stamp "Just A Love Note" clear stamp set; Simple Stories letter stickers; Evalicious badge button, tags, labels, rubber stamps; Freckled Fawn washi tapes; The Twinery Caribbean twine; One Little Bird Designs digital kits

When I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to flip it upside down and have my photos on the bottom instead of the top. I also rarely take vertical photos, so I decided to go with two square photos. From there, I had the general idea of my layout in mind and I built up the layers from there. I had a cute circle tag that I thought would be perfect for in between my photos. That part of the layout turned out to be the most like the sketch. I tried to incorporate different textures into my layout with stamping, dimensional adhesives, badge button, vellum, doily, and twine.  I printed some digital items and cut them out. Lastly  I finished out the layout with some sewing on top.  I rarely use sketches when creating paper layouts, even though I use digital templates a bit for digital layouts.  I'm pleased with how it turned out, so I think I'll be doing this more often! :)

We love how Christine interpreted the sketches, as well as sharing her tips on how to adapt them to fit her needs. How fun is the border along the top?! Thanks for joining us this week, Christine! You can see more of Christine's work in her SC gallery and on her blog. She is also active in the Twitter community: @listgirl .

How will YOU use this sketch? Whether it's a layout, a card or something else, link us up to your project by February 25th for a chance to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico shop. (Please remember, your project must be loaded into our gallery to qualify...and your comment has to link back to it in the SC Gallery)
