30 days of Thankful | Tina Aszmus

Cathy Zielske has set aside November for her Thirty Days of Thankful project, and we've asked some of our Creative Team members to share their take on the project. Tina Aszmus has built a gorgeous letterpressed album to share what she's grateful for.

I created a mini using thick letterpress paper, d-rings and trimmed Handbook page protectors. I didn’t want to go too far off in size since I’m already working with the Handbook for my Project Life. Printing the majority of my photos at 3x4 makes picture printing go a little quicker for me. I used the 4x6 page protectors since those are the ones I use the least for my PL. I simply put in a 3x4 card as my sewing guide and cut off the extra plastic. Then cut down the center so that I get 2 – 3x4 page protectors.

For the cover, I cut 2 pieces of thick letterpress paper about a ¼ inch larger than the page protector. I added a very light watercolor wash to the front cover. After the watercolor dried, I ran the paper through my Evolution letterpress platform using the label die. I typed “her heart is full” in PS and printed that out on some vintage typewriter paper I found thrifting this year. I cut out the words and used a glue pen to adhere.

I punched my holes for the d-rings on both the cover and page protectors to finish off the book.

Now to fill! I’m primarily using SC’s November kit and add-ons but opted to sprinkle in some other favorite items from past kits. I found that a lot of the cards in the Cuppa Project Life kit worked perfectly for the theme.

Day 1 is simply a favorite photo of my son paired with an easy confetti pocket that is the hot trend right now. To give it a more masculine feel, I used the black stars from Cuppa card kit, charcoal grey and white sequins. After filling the pocket with confetti, simply sew across the top to seal everything in. Then I adhered the epoxy Day 1 from the Cuppa main scrapbook kit on the outside of page protector.

Days 3 and 4 are fairly simple. I used the 3 card from the Cuppa Project Life kit and typed my journaling in PS and printed onto typing paper. I let day 4’s photo speak for itself. I don’t feel it’s necessary to journal about everyday, especially if your photo is a detailed moment. I only added the rub ons from Cuppa’s Gingerbread add on.

Day 5 was my wedding anniversary. The message was simple. I used my very favorite gold foil Thickers from the Gingerbread add on for this day to give it a more special feel. Day 6’s card is cut from a note card my friend Jamaica sent me. I love using everyday ephemera in my pockets and this was perfect for my thankful mini. I attached the BG acrylic “J” from the Navy Pier add on with a tiny attacher atop the photo.

I’m looking forward to finishing out the month of thankfulness. This project is helping me take note of the little things we should and shouldn’t take for granted.

Supplies: Cuppa Scrapbook, Card and Project Life main kits, Gingerbread add on, Navy Pier add on, Tiny Attacher, L Letterpress Platform, Letterpress Labels, StormyGrey and vanilla sequins, Peerless watercolor papers, Thick letterpress paper
