Sunday Sketch I Pamela

This week, Pamela (SC username, pamlee81), is sharing her take on our layout sketch! Pamela's work is beautiful and she has such a fresh clean style. Her pages look like they've stepped right out of a magazine. We have loved seeing her work in the gallery lately and couldn't wait to see her work with the sketches!

First, let's look at this week's sketches - our 12x12 layout comes from Maggie Massey's Love This Kid layout:

And our card sketch comes from Carissa Wiley's Happiest of Birthdays card:

And here are Pamela's FIVE different interpretations of the sketches:

"You Are My Greatest Adventure": As soon as I saw the card sketch, I knew I wanted to use that tag spot for a picture! I tend to be an 8.5 x 11 scrapper, and this sketch was perfect for that size, with lots of white space up top for a big, bold title. I had this picture of my son lifting up his little ride-on car over his head "just like Mr. Incredible" (a current favourite movie :), and I knew I wanted to use this quote from the movie for the title. I came across a pin from Ali Edwards recently, with the EXACT TITLE I wanted to use, and I loved the look of it. So I tried to recreate something very similar using Photoshop Elements and cut it out with my Cameo. This layout and I, we have a love hate relationship. I confess to taking off the title and putting it back on again 3 times before finally popping it up with some foam squares, giving it a little drop shadow with some Gold Mr. Huey's and calling it done. In the end, love wins!

Supplies: Antiquary Scrapbook Kit (dark brown cardstock), Rome Add-on (patterned paper, thickers, wood veneer), Gold Mr. Huey's mist, This to That foam squares, white cardstock and gold thread.

"Look Emily" : The card sketch was easily turned into an 8.5 x 11 layout as well! I stacked the title, some journaling and embellishments in a column down the middle. I took this picture at the park last summer when Liam was showing Emily the different shapes in the clouds (love!). The Storytime cloud transparency was a perfect fit to tell this story. I popped the transparency up off of some white cardstock to try to get some shadows, and added a few extra clouds from the transparency on top of that.

Supplies: Antiquary Scrapbook Kit (patterned paper, word strips, transparent green alpha), Storytime cloud transparency, (storytime) Studio Calico Wood veneer "Tiny hearts", printable labels, vellum, This to That foam squares.

Both of these sketches are so versatile and could easily be turned into 2 pagers (with big pictures, my favourite!!!).

"Let Her Sleep": For this layout, I used the card sketch to make a title/journal page and combined it with a favourite enlarged picture to make a 2 pager. Inspired by some more great art found on Pinterest and all the awesome brush script images popping up in the gallery. I actually used the watercolour set from the Valley High card kit to paint the title, scanned it into my computer to recolour and resize it.
Supplies: Antiquary Scrapbook Kit (patterned paper, word strips), Vienna Add-On (chipboard letter), Printable labels, Studio Calico Wood veneer "Stars"

"Love You to Infinity and Beyond": Again, combined the Scrapbook sketch with a Big picture (because that's what I do when I have lots of pictures I love and the 3x4 Project Life pockets just don't do them justice! :) The right side of this layout stayed pretty true to the original sketch. I designed and cut the title with my Cameo, and used some Mr. Huey's Calico Shine to mist on a star burst behind the photo. My journaling is hidden on the tag behind the photo to keep everything "tidy".
Supplies: Chai Add-On (patterned paper, vellum stars), Cuppa Project Life Kit (star rhinestones), Printable labels, office supply tags, This to That Foam Squares, SC Mister Huey's Shine

"Life Lessons": For this last layout, I combined the two sketches (Scrapbook sketch on the left, card sketch on the right).
Supplies: Antiquary Scrapbook Kit (patterned paper, mini-clothespin), Rome Add-On (Thickers, Wood Veneer), Vienna Add-On (patterned paper), Cuppa Project Life Kit (tag and journaling card), Printable Labels, Kraft Cardstock, star punch

We were blown away by the beautiful work that Pamela did with these sketches and love how she has shown us just how very versatile these sketches are. Thank you for inspiring us this week, Pamela! If you'd like to see more of Pamela's work, follow her here at Studio Calico.
