LOTW | Emma

Our Layout of the Week, Shine, comes from our member Emma (username emma_kw). Emma is a regular in our member gallery and we always love seeing her work! This layout is no exception with its great use of vellum and subtle stitching detail. To keep up with Emma and see more of her work, be sure to follow her here at SC!

This layout actually came together kind of quickly. I'd had one of those weeks where nothing worked and couldn't quite figure out what to do. This photo had been sitting on my desk for some time so typed up a quick story on those awesome speech bubble stickers from this month's kit and had stuck it a scrap piece of vellum just so I could put it through the typewriter (clearly I'm not logical enough to type onto it before removing it from the backing paper......I know...). Funnily enough I decided I liked it so kept it as it and just trimmed it to match the photo size. I added the stars at the back and sewed it all down! I've been wanting to use the star tabs on a layout for ages so popped it at the top and used the "Shine" flair at the bottom. I'm not much of a stamper but I gave it a shot using the Sketchbook stamps - however I wanted gold text so it tied in with the rest of the layout, so I had to go with embossing (which I never do, but how fun is it?) as I dont have any gold ink! Surprised it turned out OK :) Thank you so much for picking my layout this week!
