A Week of Photo Prompts
These days, most of the photos I take are with the camera that's always with me, which is my iPhone. As wonderful as that is, I want to try and consciously break out my DSLR more and practice capturing moments in a different way. Whether at home or on vacation, snapping photos is one of my favorite things to do. Here are some simple ideas on documenting this summer (or any season, really) from the ordinary everyday to travels both near and far.
1. Find an awesome backdrop & use it
When you find a cool backdrop, whether it be scenic like this one, or just a cool wall - hand over your camera. You can get in the shot yourself and also take a photo of someone else. Bonus points if the other person is willing to jump.
2. Capture a collection
Either styled or unstyled, a group of objects together can be a great reminder of a specific time period.
3. Hold an object in your hand
While in Siam Reap, I took this photo of the admission ticket in focus and the background blurred a bit.
4. Photograph signs
5. Document a detail
The "JC" carved into the wood is a bit unexpected and may not be noticed at first glance.
6. Look up
7. Snap away
The beauty of digital photography is that you can take a bunch of photos and narrow it down to just the ones you love. As I took this picture of Jack laying on the blanket, the next thing I knew was Buster running towards us. Without even paying attention to whether he was in focus or even in the viewfinder, I just took a couple shots and lucked out with this one.
Hope these inspire you to take some photos! Looking forward to seeing what you capture this week using these prompts. I will be playing along with my iPhone on Instagram @amytangerine - with the hashtag #SCphotoprompts.
Love it!

I always take photos of the signs to help me remember where I was. It has been really helpful in jogging my memory now that I am starting to put together PL spreads of a trip we took in 2004 :)
