Sunday Sketch | Jenn

This week, our layout sketch is an 8.5x11 layout with a centered design and two small photos. Our card sketch features a scattering of butterflies & our Project Life sketch uses a label for journaling and a 3x4 photo. Creative Team member, Jenn Picard, is joining us this week & sharing her take on our card sketch. Be sure to follow Jenn here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

First, let's look at this week's sketches - our 12x12 layout sketch comes from Melanie Louette's Get Outside layout:

Our card sketch comes from Maggie Holme's Butterflies card:

And our Project Life sketch comes from Amanda Caves Snow Week 2014 spread:

Now let's see Jenn's take on our card sketch:

I really liked all 3 of the sketches this week and could have easily created a card with anyone of them but decided to use the sketch inspired by Maggie's Butterflies Card. I distinctly remember seeing this card in her Camelot gallery and wanting to lift it at some point, so what better time then now:)

I loved all of the circles and layers and I also I knew using the frame craft die would just be perfect for this sketch. So I started with the gorgeous rich woodgrain patterned paper added some drops of Gold Mister Huey's then layered several sizes of punched circles from various patterns. I chose to group and overlap my circles and also added a button with thread and a little punched vellum star. To really hilight the stamped sentiment I swiped the paper with some gold and watercolours and tied the cute little stick pin to the paper frame.

Supplies: Hello, Hello Card Kit ( Stamps, Craft Frame Die, Patterned Papers, Blue Frosties, Gold Baker's Twine) Ciao Card Kit Add On (Pink Polka Dot Patterned Paper, Star Stick Pin), StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad, Mister Huey's Gold, Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Marker, Vellum, Tiny Attacher, AC Mini Stapler Colored Refills

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by June 9th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.

I love Melanie's layout and the page sketch, but I ended up making the centered design asymmetrical. Here's my take on the sketch:

It was a great challenge for me, since I never really do symmetrical designs. This is how it turned out:

    Thanks for the inspiration.

The circles on Maggie's card made me think of the Mon Ami paper from the Excalibur kit I have been hoarding. It was perfect for scrapping this favorite photo of my parents right before their wedding.
