#7yearsofSC

Studio Calico's 7th anniversary means there's been 84 months of Inspiration, Delivered. Can you remember your first kit? We asked our Creative Team to dig into their scrapbooks and share one of the first projects they made using a Studio Calico kit.

Allison Waken : I created this layout 5 years ago using the Studio Calico Documentary kit. The kit I very first subscribed with. It was inspired by a page that Megan Klauer had uploaded to the Studio Calico Gallery. I remember being SO excited to finally have layouts to upload that I was proud of.

Barbara Picinich : I didn’t even know Studio Calico existed until I read about the first December Daily Kit from Ali Edwards in 2011. I remember having to wait until midnight to purchase it because I wasn’t a member yet, I was so afraid it was going to sell out. When I posted my completed cover in December 2011 I had never shared anything I had made online before so it was all super new to me. It’s been so much fun sharing and seeing what all of the members post. The member gallery really is one of the best parts of this

Becky Novacek : This project was one that I did when I was a guest designer for Studio Calico in April of 2010. I loved this kit so much and found so much inspiration in working with it. I still have this canvas up in my studio!

Julie Campbell : This is a project I made in 2011 using the Countryside collection. These first collections are still some of my favorites & I hoard pieces from them to this day. On this project, I used the Weekday Rub-ons to create my sentiment. (FRI & bits from the other days of the week.)

Kelly Noel : My first SC layout was made for my guest designer month back in August of 2008, but I couldn't find those images anywhere. This layout was one of my first "official" SC layouts as a Creative Team member with the Fountain Square kit. That sweet little boy is now 7!

Kim Stewart : I uploaded this layout in December of 2011 and I still enjoy using lot of cutouts and soft but bright colors and funky embellishments, that's one thing that has not changed over the years. I really enjoyed making the little pinwheels and can't remember what inspired me to make them but they are still one of my favorite little embellishments to make.

Lilin Fang : This is one of my first layouts. I made it in January 2013 for a CHA challenge here at Studio Calico. I used my very first Studio Calico Kit - Roller Ink and some bits and pieces from Pop The Page class kit.

Lisa Truesdell : I first visited Studio Calico shortly after it went live. I was VERY pregnant with Sam at the time.. hard to imagine that SC is now 7 - and that he will be soon as well!! I was an early subscriber, but this was the first project I could find. It was made in June 2009 with SC's Playground kit. That zigzag paper is still one of my favorites - and this kid still LOVES roller coasters!

Lory Bucaria : I used the Central High card and Scrapbook kits for this layout.

Natalie Elphinstone : I started subscribing to the Studio Calico kits in 2010, shortly after I started scrapbooking 'for real'. They quickly became my source for the latest and greatest products, and I rarely needed to shop anywhere else. As a stay-at-home Mum to two young daughters it was great to have the kits arrive at my doorstep each month without any hassle. One of my first kits was "Continental" in July 2010 and I've made many layouts using it, including this one. To date, it remains one of the only kits I've successfully 'killed'. All the rest I'm still hoarding my favourite pieces from!

Paige Evans : Here is a layout called Janey Girl that I created as the Valley High kit Studio Calico guest designer last summer. I turned the gold chipboard grid over to show the white side then backed some of the circles with patterned paper and filled others in with embellishments or stamping. I die cut the title from scrap cardstock then used it as a template to pierce holes 1/4" apart all around it then backstitched it with blue thread. I placed the photos in a visual triangle to lead the eyes all around the page.

Stephanie Baxter : This was one of my very first layouts as a Studio Calico subscriber back in December 2011. I used all of the papers from the Brooklyn Flea main kit to pull it together and finished it off with those awesome charcoal Thickers from the kit! It still remains one of my favourite layouts to date!

We'd love to see your "vintage" Studio Calico layouts!! Link us up here, or add the tag #7yearsofSC in the gallery or on Instagram!

These have "aged" beautifully. They all look like they could be found in the gallery today as new layouts.

Boardwalk was my first SC kit, and I did my first page for a swap here on the forums.

My first kit was your (SC's) first kit!

I love seeing the CT layouts from kits over the years.

This has to be one of my favorite SC blog posts! It is so much fun to learn which kits were your firsts and see earlier layouts!

My first kit was Napa Valley from November 2010. Here is a layout I created with it back then that shows the alpha stamp from the kit. Also, I can see I was using every little bit because there are bits of the fun little cards advertising SC lines.
