Member Spotlight | Melissa Marie

This May, get to know Melissa Marie (username melissamarie). Melissa was introduced to scrapbooking as a child, but found a real joy of memory-keeping with Project Life® after she began documenting her family's travels around the U.S. Since becoming a member of Studio Calico last year, she's created and shared colorful spreads, mini albums, and scrapbook layouts with bold focal points and text to anchor each page. We hope you enjoy getting to know Melissa a little better as much as we do!

Hello! My name is Melissa Marie, I am a 17 year old high school senior. This fall I am going to college to study Graphic Design! I can't wait to begin this next journey in my life. As a child, I was introduced to scrapbooking but it didn't interest me. Years later my family traveled around the US and I wanted to document those memories. I started Project Life® and haven't stopped since! It's one of my favorite things to do.

All time favorite past kit or collection. My favorite Studio Calico collections have been both Far Far Away and Penny Arcade. The colors in those kits are my favorite! I love the combination of both bright and light colors.

What do you do when your kit comes? I pretty much run into my room, rip open the box, and spread all of the goodies on my bed. I then organize the kit into 3 sections one to keep, one to give to my sister, and one to give to my friend Heather. Also I like taking pictures of my favorite items from the kit and use the #mysckitishere. It's so fun to look through that hashtag and see what others got!

What's you go to technique? This was a hard question for me to answer, because I feel like I don't have a technique! :) I honestly just add different pieces of paper and embellishments that speak to me or tell my story the best.

Share your top 5 products:

  1. Studio Calico kits
  2. Adhesive
  3. Scissors
  4. Pretty paper
  5. Ephemera packs

Where do you go when your mojo is low? When my mojo is low, I have to stop doing what ever I am making and move on to something else like reading or knitting. Doing those things help me to not think of the project. Then when I am ready I go back to the project and I see it with new eyes, since I had a short break!

Thank you for letting us spotlight you, Melissa! We loved getting to know more about you! If you'd like to see more of Melissa's work, be sure to follow her here at SC and on her Instagram!
