Sunday Sketch | Stephanie Baxter

This week, our layout sketch is an 8.5x11 layout mixes journaling cards and photos on a layout. Our card sketch features a cute main accent and stamped sentiment and our Project Life sketch uses a 4x6 photo and a layered journaling card. Get creative and be sure to share you layouts here with us! We can't wait to see what you create! Creative Team contributor, Stephanie Baxter, is joining us this week & sharing her take on the Project Life® sketch! Be sure to follow Stephanie here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our 8.5x11 layout sketch comes from Lory's Currently layout:

Our card sketch comes from Julie Campbell's Keep Your Head Up card:

Our Project Life sketch comes from Marcy Penner's Project Life® spread:

I'm always looking for quick and easy card designs so that I can make someone a little something in no time at all! When I saw Marcy's Project Life card, I felt super inspired to translate her design into a greetings card!

I liked the idea of layering a circle embellishment on top of a rectangular embellishment so I decided to use one of the 3x4 cards from the Lisse Street Project Life® kit as a base for one of the chipboard pieces (also found in the kit). I was drawn to Marcy's handwriting and wondered how I could incorporate this element on my card...when I came across the grey card designed by Ali Edward's from this month's kit, I knew it was perfect to house the chipboard piece. And both pieces worked so well together as a great sentiment for an encouragement card...bonus!

The card definitely needed a little something extra so I made use of the beautiful floral washi tape from the kit and ran it along the bottom of the card. I finished it off with a die-cut piece from an Amy Tangerine pack I had bought in the shop...isn't it cute?!

And there you have it...a card that literally took less than five minutes thanks to Marcy's great design!

I loved Lory's original layout so much that I basically lifted it but I used PL cards. http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/161961-sc-sketch-you-me-simple-moments
