Sunday Sketch | Jamie Waters

This week, our layout sketch is an 8.5x11 layout with stamped title, journaling and paper layers. Our card sketch features a circle opening with a simple sentiment and stamped image and our Project Life sketch uses a 4x6 photo and a 3x4 decorated journaling card. Get creative and be sure to share your projects here with us! We can't wait to see what you create! Creative Team member, Jamie Waters, is joining us this week and sharing her take on the card sketch! Be sure to follow Jamie here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our 8.5x11 layout sketch comes from Catherine Davis' She Said layout:

Our card sketch comes from Keisha Campbell's Hello Friend card:

Our Project Life sketch comes from Allison Waken's Project Life® spread:

I loved the simplicity of Catherine's sketch! I looked at that same product and wouldn't have thought to use them all at once like that! Bravo! I chose to dip into Carolina Moon for some coordinating color patterns. This rust color with bowties just makes me think of my boys. I pop dotted the photo for a little dimension and used the Sigh sticker to ground the photo.

Supplies:
Alyra Stamp Set, Grid Paper, Carolina Moon Scrapbook Kit, Lisse Street Scrapbook Kit, Far Far Away Scrapbook Kit, Foam tab squares, Acrylic Block, Precision Pen, Kraft Cardstock

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by June 1st in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the June 6th Layout of the Week post.

I am always happy to see patterned paper scraps in projects. Beautiful layout.
Here is my take on the card sketch.

I used a scoreboard to replicate the dotted outline, doily for the circle
Rather than use a sentiment label I stamped directly on the card.
Here is my take on the PL sketch, I used both digital and kit Journal cards.

Thank you, thank you, thank you dear Jamie Waters for coming back! (I had actually hoped for your return and posted about it some time back). Thank you for your lovely layouts which are so doable even without tons of gadgets and tools. It is so refreshing, that there is someone out there who keeps true to the roots of scrapbooking and does not bother too much with a silhouette or even a sewing machine. You have no idea what a RELIEF this offers to me. I thing your layouts are always beautiful, true and inspiring, just like the one you just posted here. xxx

hmm not sure when this is due bc of the typo. But here's mine! I enjoyed the simplicity. The hardest part was journaling but even that was quick.
