Documenting Puppy Love with the SevenPaper Collection | Becky Novacek

I have a new puppy. Her name is Scout, and my husband and I are a little obsessed with her. The new SevenPaper collection Baxter is perfect. I like that it is whimsical and cute, without being cutesy. I like to use pattern paper to create my own sort of embellishments, so I was able to make a layout and mini-album primarily with the papers in the Baxter collection. The 6x6 pattern paper pads are my favorite thing to have on hand. I like to handcut my own alphas for titles and the scale of the 6x6 papers are great for this.

The layout I made titled “the story of scout” is very simple to make with a circle punch or Silhouette, precision scissors and a vintage typewriter or computer font for journaling. I used my circle punch for the papers and photos and laid them out without adhering. I used a pencil to calculate where my journaling would fit and proceeded to put the background paper into the typewriter for my journaling. I measured the space where I wanted the handcut alphas for “scout” and then laid everything out again and placed the Baxter Puffy Gold Alphas down first. Then I simply attached everything in place and did a little machine sewing around the journaling and on a few of the circles. I also added an Amelia Gold Glitter Heart to one of the circles. Simple and done!

I am so happy there is a Handbook Album with this collection! This album came together so quickly and was so simple.

On the first page, I just added a Wanderlust Label with my handwriting, a little stitching, another Amelia Gold Glitter Heart and a strip of pattern paper.

The next page is a photo that fits the pocket and another Wanderlust Label and typed journaling. Couldn’t be more simple.

I added an office tag with a photo and quote next.

On the backside of the tag, I added more of the labels with a typed quote that I love. You will also see the other side of the page with the divided pocket and small photos, with a gold alpha initial on pattern paper in one of the pockets.

On the backside of the divided page, I cut one photo to fit in the 4 pockets.

Next, I used one of the Baxter journal cards with a small square photo.

I used layered pattern papers from the Baxter 6x6 pattern paper pad for the background of the next page and another Gold Glitter Heart. A white paint pen was used for my journaling and white photo corners for a little added dimension and texture.

The background of the next page is a triangle vellum. I used white photo corners again and added vintage book page words.

The last page is one of the Baxter Journaling Cards again. I just cut it to fit and I think it worked well. I did a little machine stitching around the photo again.

When I put together a mini-album, I gather my supplies and use some of the same products throughout. This makes it feel a little more cohesive without being too matchy.

Supplies: Baxter Journaling Cards, Baxter Dog Handbook Album, Baxter Puffy Gold Alpha Stickers, Baxter 6x6 Pattern Paper Pad, Amelia Gold Glitter Hearts, Wanderlust Label Stickers, Precision Scissors

Such a great mini-album, Becky. You made the Baxter collection shine. Scout is a cutie, for sure. And as always, your work is stunning! You have no idea how happy it makes me to see you still scrapping. You've always been an inspiration.

The Wanderlust label links go to a 404 page. Are they still available, or were they printables? @beckynovacek
