Tutorial: Using the SevenPaper Darcy Collection with Geralyn Sy

Hi everyone! I had the chance to play with the Darcy collection, and I love how colorful and bright this collection is. While it may be school themed, don’t be afraid to use it for your everyday projects as well. I’m using this collection to document a sweet family moment and I’ll be sharing with you my layout process today.

I started by printing out a black and white photograph. I was inspired by the transparency overlay journaling cards and picked one that said ‘READ’. It would be the perfect starting point of my layout.

Since my photo was black and white, I wanted to add pops of color to my page so I layered some patterned papers behind my photo.

Next I sorted through the 3x3 square cards/diecut pack. I love all the gold foil details in this set! I chose to use two on my layout – the gold ABC123 and the arrow – and played around with the arrangement until I was happy with how it looked.

The layout was looking a little too plain for me, so I decided to trim some of the lined patterned paper to use on the top half of my page. It makes the layout more interesting but remains a subtle detail.

I love these cork embellishments and adhered one on my page with foam adhesive. I also cut out a star from one of the 3x3 die-cut cards.

One of my favorite things to look for in patterned papers is little details that can easily be cut out and used as embellishments on a layout. I love this numbers paper, and I decided to punch out a #4 with my circle punch to highlight my nephew’s age. It works as a small element on my layout.

As a last step, I added more patterned paper to the bottom of my layout and wrote my journaling on the pencil paper. I dated my layout and called it complete! Hopefully this provides you with a bit of inspiration on using Darcy for non-school projects. The bright colors and versatile patterns and designs really make it an easy collection to use. Have a great day!

Supplies: Darcy patterned papers (1, 12, 2, 4, 5, 9), Darcy 3x3 die-cut journaling cards, Darcy transparency overlay journaling cards, Darcy cork shapes, pen – Muji
