Weekly Challenge | sideshowdeb

This week, our member Deb (sideshowdeb), wants you to pull out an old kit to create a project. Our members are so talented and we love seeing your work in the gallery! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to visit Deb to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Good morning and happy Monday everyone! It’s Deb here and I am so excited to be hosting this week’s challenge!! I’ve been a member of Studio Calico for almost 5 years so you can imagine how many kits I’ve collected over the years. As someone who works full-time and is going back to school to get a second Master’s degree, I don’t have nearly enough time as I’d like to push paper around on my scrap desk. You can imagine how far behind I am on using my kits but I just keep plugging away. So my challenge to you is to use an old kit. This could be one you haven’t used yet or it could be one that you’ve kept together because you love it so much you can’t bear to separate the items into your stash. I used Sandlot on this layout because it’s a kit I can’t bring myself to break up yet! Make sure you share which kits you’ve used. I can’t wait to see what you create!! Please let me know if there is anything else you need from me so I can get it to you right away! Thanks!

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Deb's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the Studio Calico gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by January 18th to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the January 23rd Layout of the Week post.

Lovely LO! And a great challenge. I FINALLY broke into my Brimfield kit this past weekend.

Oh I love the Sandlot kit. I'm pretty close to killing it, but I still keep the little bits and pieces together. This is great!!

I went WAY back and used alphas from the Baker's Dozen kit. Then I pulled some little bits from Marcy Penner's On the Grid class kit: http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/182430-lil-star

This was a fun challenge since I always break my kits apart the day before a new one arrives. I had to research and dig into boxes to retrieve the bits and pieces associated with the underground scrapbook kit. I even used the silkscreen with the smelly acrylics.
