Workspace Wednesday: Mel Blackburn

Hello SC friends, I’m so very excited to be here today to share with you my very first blog post!! What a thrill it is for me to be part of this wonderful community!

Today I’m sharing a peek into my creative space. I do not have a dedicated room, but I have taken over a small corner of the master bedroom. Since I have a small space a couple of things are crucial, lots of baskets for organization, keeping things tidy, pretty accents and no clutter. This space might be tiny but it makes me happy!

As you can see my work table is rather small, this kitchen island from Ikea, it is the perfect height as I work standing up, again maximizing my workspace and eliminating the need for a chair. This is where I keep my ongoing projects, PL albums and Studio Calico kits. These items are organized using various baskets and trays. Since this is the first thing we see when walking in the room I need to have things tidy and displayed as neatly as possible!

Of course, like most crafters I have the very handy Raskog cart by Ikea. This is where I organized my documenter supplies and most used embellishments and punches.

My space wouldn’t be complete without a gallery wall. This décor is constantly changing, I often use various cards that inspire me. I also created the simple banner using the Studio Calico chipboard letters included in the Canal Street embellishment kit.

Last be not least, my lovely armoire (again by Ikea) which holds all my supplies, it’s beautiful and works perfectly. Everything in my armoire is organized using various baskets I’ve accumulated over the year. This is where I keep my mists, Thickers, roller stamps, embellishments, metal dies and albums.

The beauty in a small space is that less is more; I am more selective about what products I keep and how I display my supplies, because in the end it’s all about maximizing this precious space and making the most of what I have.

I hope you have enjoyed this virtual tour of my creative space as much as I’ve enjoyed creating this blog post! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Really well done and so organized Mel! I love LOVE small spaces, and this is SO inspiring!! I'm looking to take over a corner somewhere in my home, as I'm still getting my stash built up a bit, but it's definitely reached the point that it needs a designated space! Thanks for sharing these great ideas!
