Member Challenge | ecooper99

This week, our member Elizabeth (ecooper) wants you to create a layout documenting a love story. Our members are so talented and we love seeing your work in the gallery! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to visit the member gallery to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Hey, everyone, Elizabeth here! I’m so excited to be hosting this week’s challenge. The moment I laid eyes on the Savannah kit, it was love at first sight. I adore all the pink, the flowers, the feminine patterns. It’s incredibly gorgeous - and very lovey-dovey. So it felt so fitting to me that I would make a romantic layout with all those lovely papers and embellishments. I pulled out a photo of my husband and me taken in 2014, during our first official family photography session. Our daughter was only about 10 months old at the time, and it was a miracle we were able to set her down on a blanket at our feet and have the photographer snap a “couple” picture of us. Because I chose to work with such busy pattern paper, I knew I had to keep the embellishments simple and low-key. Stitching seemed like the perfect way to add a bit of interest to this page, so I spent some time hand-stitching around the perimeter of the page, and around the heart shape that, aside from the photo, is the focal element on this layout.

My challenge for you this week is to create a romantic layout documenting a love story. (It doesn’t have to be your own.) I can’t wait to see what you create!

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Elizabeth's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the Studio Calico gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by March 7 to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the March 12 Layout of the Week post.

I made a layout using the first photo my husband and I together. Except that we didn't meet until the next year!

I made a page about my daughters two loves: her cat and her books. (not really romantic but Love never less.)
