Tutorial: Using the Film Club Scrapbook Kit with Geralyn Sy

Hi everyone! I’m playing with the Film Club kits and add-ons today and I’m going to share with you my process of putting together a layout with some of my favorite pieces from the kits. Let’s get started.

I have a picture of cherry blossoms I snapped in DC that I printed out as a 4x5” photo. Beside it, I’ve decided to use one of the journal cards from the Pretty in Pink add-on.

The floral specialty paper that’s included in the scrapbook kit is so beautiful. I decided to fussy cut around the design to include it on my layout. A quick tip on fussy-cutting images: it’s easier to move the paper while cutting than to try to move/angle the scissors!

To incorporate the floral design on my layout, I added my fussy cut images to the top left and bottom right corners of my page to frame my photo. I’ve tucked in some of the floral design behind my photo and layered another part of it on top of my photo for a more organic look.

Included in the scrapbook kit are some vellum paintbrush strips. I chose to use one on my layout, but because the phrase was so long, I decided to cut it into thinner strips and stack them to make multiple lines. Don’t be afraid to alter scrapbook products to suit your project.

Next, I wanted to decorate the journal card. I pulled out some old Martha Stewart punches and adhered a flower and some butterflies using foam adhesive.

I used the Snap pink alphas from the Pretty in Pink add-on for my title.

My final touches involved handwritten journaling on a little label and a bit of stamping to complete the layout.

And that’s it! I hope today’s look into my process shows you that it’s very simple to alter products to fit your projects, like how I fussy cut patterned papers and broke down the vellum strip into shorter lines. Be creative and have fun. Thanks for taking a look!
