Member Challenge | caroleeflatley

This week, our member Carolee (caroleeflatley), wants you to bring back something old school to your crafty ways. Our members are so talented and we love seeing your work in the gallery! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to visit Carolee in the member gallery to see more of her work.

Hey everyone and happy Monday! Here’s a fun challenge I hope brightens your day! The idea for this page came to me in an odd way. I’d just set up a lot of my older crafting gear, specifically my Silhouette Cameo, in my new place. I’d been buying the cut files I liked each month “just in case” but I hadn’t actually used my Cameo in a dog’s age! “Why not now?”, I thought. It was fun to go through this process I had used to do so often when I first started paper crafting but now hadn’t done in at least a year. It felt familiar but new. I was able to use what I’d learned since then to create something fresh that reflected my current style. So this week, I encourage you to bring back something old school and try a tool or technique you haven’t used in forever, maybe even something you haven’t used since you first started scrapbooking. Are your mists collecting dust? Or maybe it’s a favorite stamp set or die from oh so long ago? Bring them out and show them some love this week!

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Carolee's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the Studio Calico gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by May 16 to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the May 21 Layout of the Week post.

I pulled out an old border punch that turns pages into a more "notebook" look. Haven't used it in ages, but it was always a favorite: http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/188720-may-journaling

I was a card maker long before I started Scrapbooking.
One of the techniques I used often was colored pencils with gamsol for a watercolor effect.
For this challenge I used my prismacolor pencils and also pulled out several old stamp sets and made a shaker card

I have such a vast collection of washi tape that I hardly ever use and I have a small amount of mists that I never have used so I used both on this layout that I made in the Jolly Holiday Workshop. I may never use up this pineapple washi but it felt good knowing I made a small dent in it and fun to splatter mist! Also, the old faux stitching technique with a black Uniball pen was always an old stand by.
