Sunday Sketch | Lisa Spangler

This week, our Scrapbook sketch features pretty embellishments, our Documenter sketch uses two cards and our Card sketch features pretty stamps. Get creative and be sure to share your projects here with us! We can't wait to see what you create! Today, Lisa Spangler shares her take on the Card sketch.

Our Scrapbook layout comes from Anna-Maria Wolniak's HERE where i belong layout:

Our Documenter layout comes from Jenn Picard's Del Mar spread:

Our card comes from Carson Riutta's You're a Magical Unicorn! card:

Hey hey and happy Sunday! Today I chose to work with the Card sketch by Carson to make a card. (That's BIG for me! I seem to gravitate towards using the Scrapbook or Documenter sketch for some reason LOL!)

I followed the sketch really closely as I just love Carson's card. Plus, following the sketch freed up my brain cells to get creative with ink. :)

Here's my inky process:
- I started out by stamping the solid cloud from the Cloud set by One Little Bird here and there all over a kraft card front with with Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment ink. I left some spaces empty so I could go back and fill them in later.
- Then I stamped right over top the clouds with various Color Theory pigment inks. Stamping first with white pigment ink allows the colors to really pop!
- Next I stamped some more solid clouds in white. Where the clouds overlap it forms new colors! So cool, right?
- Then I stamped the outline cloud with Clean Slate ink dye ink. You could use pigment ink here if you like -- I don't have Clean Slate pigment ink yet but it's on my list!
- For the label, I stamped the sentiment from the Bad Day set by Jasmine Jones with Lemon Zest dye ink and then stamped over it again in Inky Black, offsetting it a little to make a drop shadow. Note that when you do this technique it's better to use dye inks. If you use pigment inks, the first color will "block" the color you stamp on top and you won't get good coverage.

Then it was just a matter of die cutting a cloud and heart from the Jolly Holiday 4x6 paper pad, assembling the card, and adding some enamel dots from my stash.

Can't wait to see what you all make with the sketches, and hope you have a great week! xoxo

Carson's card is fabulous, and I love your take, Lisa! It's so creative and inspiring. I guess I do need some more pigment inks after all ;-)

I always forget to use the unicorn white pigment on Kraft. It does make the colors pop!

My daughter is graduating with her Masters from UW this weekend so I used the card sketch to make her card. I had this paper leftover from when my son graduated there 8 yrs ago! I was going to stamp my caps directly but then decided to stamp and cut them out for dimension and to do the tassels!
