Tutorial: Paper Piercing Times Two with Lisa Spangler

Hey, hey! I've got a super fun (and super easy!) tutorial today for a card using the Bug stamp set by Jasmine Jones and the paper piecing technique. Note that the stamp set is sold out (!) but you can also use the digital set with a few adjustments. Since there aren't bulky embellishments, this card is easily mailable. It's also great for kids to get crafty, too! So, let's get started!

Begin by trimming a piece of white cardstock to 4 x 5.25". Next, look through your stash and select some neutral papers.

Trim the neutral papers into strips, then adhere them to the white cardstock. This is the first paper piecing. After all the strips covered the cardstock, I trimmed the edges again just to tidy it up.

Now, stamp bugs all over the card as shown. You want a stamp that's easy to cut out, so I ended up going with the bug on the left. Once that's done, stamp the bug again on brightly colored papers.

Now for some more paper piecing! Cut out the bug bodies only -- you don't have to worry about the legs -- then adhere them in place. I've found that a good ole glue stick works best for this.

Oh, and! Just had to add that this paper piecing technique works great for other images like this, such as deer and their antlers at Christmas. :)

Now for the fun part -- adding GLITTER! The best way I've found to add glitter is to squirt some glitter glue out on scrap paper, then use a damp brush to apply it. Then just be sure to rinse off the brush when you're done.

This method is great because you don't have to worry about blobs of glitter -- or a whole avalanche coming out of the bottle at once -- plus it dries faster. Yeah!

To finish up, just add this layer to a card base with foam tape for that extra pop. I used a bright orange card here.

Here I am tilting the card so you can see all the glittery goodness! :)

Hope you give this technique a try! Bugs and kisses to all of ya! xo
