July 2016 Member Spotlight
This month, we would like to take time to spotlight a SC member who is sure to continuously bring positive new ideas to our Message Boards and Member Gallery. She is overflowing with creativity, she is happy to support the SC community in all that you do and she is eager for you to join her Weekly Planner Challenge! Keep reading to get to know our July Member Spotlight, Cassandra Splittgerber (cmsplitt)!

Hey there from Nebraska! I'm mommy to five amazing kiddos, ranging in age from 5 to 13, and wife to one handsome fella for almost 15 years (anniversary coming up September 1st!!) I'm the Children's music director for our local Lutheran school, and I'm also their part time teacher aide. It's a great fit for our family since we all go the same direction in the morning and afternoon, and our schedules are the same as well! It's the perfect mix of all my nerdy interests: reading, music and academics!
* I'm only 5'1 - and I hear about if from my brother and sister ALL THE TIME.....STILL.
* I love dogs, but can't own one because I'm allergic. Boo.
* I have to organize all. the. things. ALL OF THEM. It's a problem.
* I love to cook, and my husband loves to eat Schwan's. Go figure.
* My favorite season is Fall, because I hate to be hot. And humidity. And sweat.
* I sing all the time. My kids love it. Really, they do.....
Member Since:
I've been a member since September of 2015, I started with the Brimfield kits. I found out about Studio Calico through my sister, who works on the UX/UI end of the website. She has been a long time paper crafter and scrapper and I just never caught the bug. However, when the planner kit became a thing, she knew I'd love it because I LURVE PLANNERS. I checked it out online and was hooked immediately! CUTE STUFF FOR PLANNERS?!?! WHAT?!?! Yes, I'm in. All in. Little did I know I'd get sucked into all the rest of the amazing paper crafting outlets here at SC. It's been a huge inspiration seeing what others here create, and has launched me into a life-long hobby of documenting our family's memories.
Why Studio Calico?
My favorite aspect of SC is the COMMUNITY. This place isn't a singular thing. It's not JUST a place to purchase product. It's not JUST a place to see a gallery of ideas. It's not JUST a place to have a message board. It's ALL of that and more: there's education offered here, there's encouragement and excitement here, there's friendship and fun here, and there's an engaged staff team here. I haven't found anything or any place on the internet that's comparable in regards to paper crafting.
One product that everyone must have:
My most recommended product from Studio Calico would be the planner kit. Of course everyone here that knows me, knows that I'm a planner nerd. But I've looked around and truly feel that SC has the best planner kit on the market, both in quality and style. My dream team: SC planner kit in my Hello Forever planner. Bam, done.
Not to brag but…
The project so far that I'm most proud of is the Fall Family Blessings mini album I did when I took Marcy Penner's mini book class last year. It's special to me for several reasons - It was the first album I've EVER done, I LOVE the way it turned out, my kids really enjoy looking through it, and it pushed me out of my comfort zone. A close second would be the first ever card I made from scratch, that was pretty great too!

A Memory planner, A traveler's notebook from a family trip, a completed December Daily album, and lastly, an album documenting all of my genealogy research.
