Tutorial | Using August's Vintage Products with Dana Fleckenstein

Hey, there! This month, we saw the return of some favorites with the Young At Heart release, including some lovely papers from Studio Calico's Atlantic collections. The cute pink patterns just screamed baby card when I leafed through the 4x6 versions, so that's what I'll show you in my step-by-step tutorial today.

To begin, I pulled the three pink papers from the 4x6 paper pad and cut 2x2 squares from them with my paper trimmer. I originally planned to cover most of my cardstock grid-style with those patterns, but then decided to go with just one square piece per designer paper. I also used the Congrats craft-die to cut part of my sentiment from glitter paper.

Next up, I die cut a vellum circle and onesie (from SC's Clara Collection) to create a small focal point and pushed the individual pieces around on the cardbase until I liked the design. Since I wanted some subtle texture, I sewed the paper, vellum piece, and die-cut sentiment together. Tip for cardmakers: If you don't want the sewing lines to show on the inside, adhere your paper pieces to a thin paper strip first to secure the placement. You can then sew over the paper and glue it to the cardbase afterwards.

To finish up my focal point, I added a puffy heart sticker to the onesie and popped it up with foam dimensionals. After sticking the die-cut down, I also put some drops of liquid glue under the vellum circle just under the onesie so the glue didn't show up on top.

Lastly, I finished up the card by picking two stamps from the Vintage Card stamp set. The words perfectly complemented the die-cut sentiment, and the black ink provided good contrast against the pastel papers to make the stamps pop.
