Documenter Kit Workshop - Mandy Elliott

Mandy Elliott is best described as a blogger, photographer, memory keeper, wife, fur-mom and Instagram addict, although not necessarily always in that order. She enjoys pocket page and hybrid/digital scrapbooking in addition to finding new ways to keep life simple + organized. She has been memory keeping in one form or another nearly all her life, and enjoys encouraging others to do the same via her blog and social media.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

The Storyboard kit is simply fun and thought-provoking. I adore the colors, especially the teals and pinks. One of my favorite parts of the kit is that it is so versatile; I could easily imagine several different themed spreads, covering everything from daily routines to autumn spreads to friends or food-themed pages. I’m also super excited about the adhesive chipboard embellishments! They’re so cute!

What she'll be teaching:

I will be sharing three incredibly different layouts, each with their own story and thematic elements. We will focus on creating simple layouts with little touches that tell unique stories and make an impact while covering everything from daily photos to sharing a little of what’s in your heart. We’ll embrace stamping, heat embossing, full-page journaling and vellum inserts.

Takeaways:

In this class, we’ll discover how to be intentional about choosing elements to support the story that your photos tell. You’ll find new ways to keep your pages simple yet elegant and fun, all while maintaining a cohesive, well-balanced feel to your spreads.

Planner Kit Workshop - Maggie Massey

Maggie is a wife and stay-at-home mom of three living outside Chicago. She's been scrapbooking since high school when she would cut words and phrases from magazines and add them to photos in the lift-the-plastic-and-put-your-photos-on-the-sticky-page albums. In addition to memory-keeping, she loves to dabble in DIY projects, photography and baking – but her first love is documenting her family's day-to-day lives.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

I think my very favorite thing about the Story Board Planner kit is the stamp set. It's packed with phrases and icons, and the variety of stamps makes it perfect for use in any kind of planner spread!

What she'll be teaching:

I use my planners for all sorts of different things... keeping track of what needs to be done each day, sorting out chores and tasks for my kids, journaling and note-taking, keeping up with my creative ventures and documenting my family's daily memories. In this workshop, I'll be going over some ways to decorate your planner pages for three of these different types of spreads while keeping your pages clean and neat and not overly-cluttered with stuff. In our first lesson, I'll show you some ideas on how to add embellishments to your day-to-day planner pages... and how even the most mundane to-do list can look great! In lesson two, I'll be sharing how I like to document the things that are currently inspiring me. In our final lesson, I'll give you a few tips on how I get my kids involved with my planning. Don't have a lot of time to spend planning? No worries! Each of my lessons focuses on just “gettin' it done.”

Takeaways:

Here are a few things to remember as we go through each of the lessons: You can plan anything... lists, accomplishments, chores, favorites, meals, anything. If it's important to you, jot it down in your planner. No matter what kind of planner pages you are creating, just a few supplies are all you need to make your pages stand out. The same items can be used in a variety of ways to get different results on each of your spreads. Remember that these lessons should be used as a jumping-off point for creating your own pages... if something I do doesn't work for you, don't do it!

Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Meghann Andrew

Meghann Andrew is a 30-something wife to a Brit, momma to a former micro-preemie, maker, and excessive coffee drinker. She currently resides near Houston, Texas, but she has lived in several U.S. states and in the U.K. She loves to travel and cook when she’s not documenting her family’s memories. Earlier this year, she became a scrapbooking instructor with the debut of her popular class “Principle Power” at Big Picture Classes.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

I have a little girl, so I was quite happy to see so much bright pink in the kit this month! I never run out of “girly” photos to document. Navy blue is one of my favorite “neutrals,” so I was so happy to see the navy blue Color Theory puffy alphas and the gorgeous foiled patterned paper. The small label phrase stickers are also a favorite - I find them so useful for adding a bit of color and embellishment to my layouts!

What she'll be teaching:

In lesson one, we will learn how to make what can be an overwhelming piece of patterned paper work for our layout design. In lesson two, we’re going to cluster several different elements in the center of our page design. Lastly, in lesson three, I will show you how to create a masculine layout with the kit, and how to make do with the pieces that you have on hand after creating your first two layouts.

Takeaways:

Don’t judge a kit by first glance! There are always so many possibilities to document different subjects with each kit. I also want you to make these kits work for you. Everything can be cut, painted, adhered and arranged to fit what you’re creating.
