Get to Know | Juli, Maggie, Theresa, & Lisa

A couple of weeks ago, we introduced our new 2017 Creative Team! We have a good mix of new and old designers, but we thought it would be fun to get to know them all a little better. Join us every Friday this month for a little peek inside our Creative Team! This week, let's get to know more about Juli Maniago, Maggie Massey, Theresa Doan, & Lisa Truesdell!

Juli Maniago:

Blog: Juli Makes Things

YouTube: Juli Makes Things

Instagram: @julimakesthings

Bio: I'm Juli! I'm from New Jersey, about 20 minutes outside of NYC, and I work full time as a nurse. I started scrapbooking in college and never looked back. When I'm not scrapbooking, I'm always binge watching something on Netflix. I love warm weather and more often than not, I'd rather be at the beach. Or Disney! I'm super excited to be a part of the team this year. :)

What are your favorite projects to create? I love to make pocket pages and the occasional full page layout.

Inspired by: Tina Aszmus, Jamie Waters

Obsessed with: stars, alpha stickers, and my tiny attacher

A Favorite Project:

I love the summer feel this page has and I love how the typewriter strips make the journaling pop! That vitamin sea card is one of my favorites of all time so I was excited to finally find a page I wanted to use it on.

Maggie Massey:

Blog: Midwestern Girl DIY

Instagram: @maggiemassey

Bio: Hey everyone! I'm Maggie...a wife and stay-at-home mom-of-3 living outside Chicago. Paper crafts in general, and scrapbooking in particular have always been my "thing" - I was that girl in school who always wanted to make the event posters...you know the one. I've been scrapping since high school when I would cut out words and phrases from magazines and add them to my photos in the lift-the-plastic-and-put-your-photos-on-the-sticky-page albums...remember those? I currently design for Heidi Swapp, Elle's Studio, Kerri Bradford & (yayayayay!!!) Studio Calico and I try not to let a day go by without creating something. I truly believe that it's so important to document our lives...and I LOVE that there is such a fantastic community of scrappers out there that provide tons of ideas and inspiration to help me do that.

What are your favorite projects to create? I love creating plain old run-of-the-mill layouts most...but planner spreads are a close second

Inspired by: Pinterest, Home Goods and most of all, Instagram! The amount of creativity out there is overwhelming!

Obsessed with: sleep, paper, fabric & the crazy idea that I'll ever check everything off my to-do list.

A Favorite Project:

I ABSOLUTELY ADORED the colors and designs included in the February 2015 Cirque kits...so it's no great stretch that one of my very favorite projects was created with that kit. Plus, this layout contains so many of my favorite things...a black & white photo, tons of color, big block letters and circles, circles, circles!

Theresa Doan:

Instagram: @mydocumentedlife

Bio: I live in Northern California with my husband and 3 kids.  I've been crafting, collecting stickers and planning for as long as I can remember!  I started scrapbooking in 2002 when I had my oldest son.  I've done everything from traditional 12x12 layouts, pocket pages, SMASH books and mini albums.  I've always used a planner but didn't start creative planning until a few years ago.  On a trip to Tokyo in 2014, I purchased my first traveler's notebook and an obsession began!   In my traveler's notebook is where I combine my love for planning and documenting.  I never leave home without one!

What are your favorite projects to create?  My weekly layouts in my traveler's notebook.  This is where all the big and little tidbits of my life are documented.

Inspired by: My family.  They are the reason I document everything!

Obsessed with: Traveler's notebooks and stamping!  (Confession...I've been hoarding stamps for a decade but didn't REALLY start stamping until recently.)

A Favorite Project:

This is one of my favorite traveler's notebooks projects.  It shows my love for simplicity, planning and documenting all in one place.  This was the first time I tried putting anything 3-D into my planner pages, and I just love the way it turned out!

Lisa Truesdell:

Blog: gluestickgirl (fair warning - I haven't done a great job keeping up with it this year!)

Instagram: @gluestickgirl

Bio:  Once upon a time, I was an 8 year old who was obsessed with cute pens and stationery. Now I'm 40, but still obsessed. I'm a wife to a computer geek and a mama to three, and the five of us (plus two naughty kittens!) call a charming and quaint (read : small and has no closets) old house in midtown Omaha home. I'm the Education Manager for Inked and absolutely love getting to spend my days surrounded by inspirational teachers and projects. I've been with Studio Calico since 2009 and can't imagine this wonderful community not being a part of my life!

What are your favorite projects to create? While layouts were my first love, I'm really enjoying mixing things up and working in a Traveler's Notebook. I have also dabbled in memory keeping in a planner, and found that it's a great way to capture a little slice of every day life.

Obsessed with: Sleeping in. Notebooks. My house when it's clean and quiet. Disney World. My Tiny Attacher. Vintage signs and storage. Tiki Drinks. Candy Crush. Washi Tape.

Inspired by:  Quirky little shops. Katie Licht. The things my kids say. Every day photography. Trying new things.

A Favorite Project:  After 9+ years with Studio Calico, this was really, REALLY hard. In the end, I went with this layout because I feel like it was an AHA moment in a shift in aesthetic that my style has taken in the last year or so. I've found myself drawn to doing less embellishing & using less patterned paper, but including more photos and actual handwritten journaling. I've gone through a few "style shake ups" in my 12 years of memory keeping, and I love that the SC kits continually push me out of my box so that I continue to experiment! (I'd be remiss if I didn't give photo credit to my son Ben, who shot all of these on a school trip to NYC. It's so fun to have my kids involved in documenting!)

We hope you've enjoyed getting to know these CT members a little bit more. Join us next week to meet four more of our Creative Team members!
