Get to Know | Lisa, Marie, Carla, & Nancy

Earlier this week, we introduced our new 2017 Creative Team! We have a good mix of new and old designers, but we thought it would be fun to get to know them all a little better. Join us every Friday this month for a little peek inside our Creative Team! We're kicking things off with Lisa Spangler, Marie Lottermoser, Carla DeTaboada, and Nancy Damiano.

Lisa Spangler:

Blog: sideoats + scribbles

Instagram: @sideoats

Bio: I'm a transplanted Ohio Buckeye who's lived in Austin, Texas for 20 years now -- how is that even possible? I've been married to my soulmate and best friend, Jason, for almost as long. We love to go hiking together, especially out in the Chisos mountains in Big Bend National Park. We both do volunteer work to help preserve our Texas prairies. In case you were wondering, I picked my login name, sideoats, because it's the state grass of Texas and my fave prairie grass. Shhhhhh, don't tell the other grasses. :) I'm so happy to be back on the Studio Calico creative team this year!

What are your favorite projects to create? Watercolor sketchbooks while on trips and making cards

Inspired by: Too many things to list! But mostly nature, Ashley Goldberg, and Tina Aszmus

Obsessed with: gouache, all things navy, chia seed pudding, Blue Bottle coffee, acorns, my new hiking boots and prairies. Always prairies.

A Favorite project:

It's so hard to pick a favorite project! So I'm going with this mixed media cactus card I made for my class over at BPC, Painted Notes (http://www.bigpictureclasses.com/classes/painted-notes) It's a fave of mine because I felt so happy while making it. I had tons of fun just playing with paper and paints. Then I sent it to a friend who found out she had cancer and she liked it too. Sending cards to people -- it's like sending a hug.

Marie Lottermoser:

Blog: Stitch In Time

Instagram: @lotty2000

Bio: I live right outside of Seattle with my husband, Heinz, and our two kids (Kyla 18, Max 14).  Life is never dull with two teenagers in the house.  I worked in Human Resources before becoming a SAHM.  Now I love reading, photography, exploring the city, and of course scrapbooking.  I’m really excited to be joining the SC Creative Team this year!

Favorite Projects to Create:  Documenter Albums, Planners, and Mini Albums

Inspired by: other scrapbookers - Ali Edwards, Jill Sprott, Kelly Noel, Lisa Truesdell, Pam Baldwin to name just a few.

Obsessed with: my family and pets, books, coffee and my camera

A Favorite Project:

My Alaska travel album.  I’ve been working on it for a couple of years now.  I just pull it out every once in a while to work on it.

Carla De Taboada:

Blog: Love Pray Create

Instagram: @carladetaboada

Bio: My name is Carla and I'm a philosopher and educator with a great passion for organization and crafting. We live in a sweet house in the city of Lima. I'm a stay at home mom to a lovely boy and a sweet little girl, and wife to an awesome husband and dad. After my kids are in bed you'll find me planning, crafting, filming videos and dreaming up of new ideas to make new classes for Big Picture Classes, where I'm a teacher too. I love to set up my planners, document my life in my traveler's notebooks and albums, and enjoy DIY projects. I'm so happy to be part of this amazing Creative Team and so excited for this new year to come! What are your favorite projects to create? I'm definitely a planner and journaling girl, but I love all things crafty!

Inspired by: My kids, my family and crafty videos.

Obsessed with: Chocolate, planners, planner supplies and fun family board games.

A Favorite Project:

This is one of my favorite planner spreads that I created for Studio Calico in the last year. I definitely love using my stamps, photos, and cute stickers to organize myself, but one thing I really enjoy most of all is creating a new planner element with the planner supplies that I receive in my planner kits. This time, I made a shaker page marker using one of those lovely papers from the phone notepad. I love this spread as it is so simple, bright and functional.

Nancy Damiano:

Blog: The Paper Orchard

Instagram: @nancydamiano

Bio: I live in central New Jersey with my husband and 10-year-old son. We have a gaggle of nieces and nephews that are a big part of our lives. I've been designing in the scrapbook industry for 8 years and I still love it! I'm grateful for the creative challenges and opportunities that have come my way. This is my first year designing with Studio Calico and I'm really looking forward to it!   What are your favorite projects to create? All of them. Seriously, I'm a maker more than anything else. Scrapbook layouts, cards, pocket pages, planners, home decor, tablescapes - they are all a yes and I love them equally!

Inspired by: Color + stories. It always begins and ends with these two.

Obsessed with: Disney World, coffee, fancy stationery stores, Cinnabons, great packaging design, and binging on This is Us.

A Favorite Project:

My favorites change all the time. This mini album is a recent one though. It's my answer to my inability to complete a seasonal December album. I love these photos and the memories that the ornaments and decorations remind me of. This represents my style overall - clean, white with punches of bold color, words and a design twist.

We hope you've enjoyed getting to know these CT members a little bit more. Join us next week to meet four more of our Creative Team members!
