Get to Know | Mandie, Catherine, Anna-Maria, Kelly

Earlier this week, we introduced our new 2017 Creative Team! We have a good mix of new and old designers, but we thought it would be fun to get to know them all a little better. Join us every Friday this month for a little peek inside our Creative Team! We're kicking things off with Mandie Pierce, Catherine Davis, Anna-Maria Wolniak, and Kelly Noel.

Bio: I am a stay at home mom of 3. We currently live in Florida. I say "currently" because we are a military family, and that changes every few years. We are homeschooling our 2 youngest for the first time this year. That has been interesting. Ha!  I have been a scrapbooker since 1999 when our oldest was a baby. I've been a member at Studio Calico since 2008. I am definitely an introvert. If you looked it up in the dictionary, you'd find my mug there. I love people. I just feel painfully awkward around them, and I love quiet time. I love reading, scrapbooking, crossfit in my garage, signing up for half marathons that I know I will injure myself training for, cooking (but not cleaning) and a clean, quiet house (which is very rare with 2 boys home all day).

What are your favorite projects to create? That depends on my mood. Sometimes it is a scrapbook layout, sometimes it is a documenter spread. I go in phases. 

Inspired by: so many people! But, perennial favorites are Mel Blackburn, Kelly Noel, Lisa Truesdell, Emily Spahn and Melanie Louette 

Obsessed with: coffee, tacos, books, Outlander and buffalo plaid (in no particular order) Scrapbook wise: I love sequins, white cardstock, bold colors, but also great neutrals    

A favorite project:

I made this layout awhile ago, but it remains hanging up in my room. I think it is a favorite for a few reasons: it is pretty simple. I'm always drawn to that. I still LOVE this photo of my youngest, and I still love the wooden embellishments and washi tape from the Ashley Goldberg class. I'd use them over and over and over if I could.

Catherine Davis:

Bio: I’m mom to seven year twins Maggie and Charlotte—also known as scrapbooking’s biggest fans. Married to Jim, a high school English teacher for 12 years. I worked as a Design Director in journalism for many years before joining Studio Calico in 2014. We’re now Inked, and I’m the Creative Director for all brands. This is my fifth year as a Creative Team member and I love the supportive, inspirational community here! 

What are your favorite projects to create? Scrapbook layouts have my heart. I always go for a good alpha embellishment first. 

Inspired by: Music, editorial design and talented artists of all kinds. 

Obsessed with: My kids, our cozy house and my phone (I know, it’s bad).

A Favorite Project: 

This is one of my favorite projects from last year. It sums up my vibe pretty well. I like big photos, and have a simple approach while also using a good amount of product at times. Plus, stars. Give me all of the stars.

Anna-Maria Wolniak:

Bio: A few years ago scrapbooking was only a part of my artistic activity, which I practiced just because I wanted to archive some moments of my life. Quickly it developed into one of my passions, and into my way of life. One thing that hasn't changed is that I'm still doing it for pleasure! I am a mother to an almost 10-year-old son Jaś, a wife to a wonderful and terribly handsome man, and a resident of a cozy, though tiny, flat on the 7th floor of a skyscraper. Currently I work with my dreamy company - Studio Calico since 2o12!   

What are your favorite projects to create? Definitely layouts!

Inspired By: Monthly kits are my constant inspiration. Various supplies, new goodies and patterned papers inspire me most. I'm also looking for the inspiration among our members in the gallery. I admire clean and simple projects.

Obsessed With: I'm obsessed with good photographs and watercolors. Love printables.

A Favorite Project: 

This one is my favorite from 2016. I love this photo of my very best friend, love the composition and palette. I wouldn't change anything here.

Kelly Noel:

Bio: I'm married to Tom, and mama to 3 boys (Jackson- 12, Brady - 9, and Sawyer - 3). I've been around in the industry for a really long time...since 2004! I've been here at SC on the Creative Team since 2008. I also work in the Education department here at SC and at BPC. I still love this crazy hobby after all these years, and I can't imagine NOT creating things, even though my spare time is so much more limited these days.

What are your favorite projects to create? I go back and forth between layouts and pocket pages. I love both equally, it just depends on my mood. I adore pocket pages because my boys and my husband really enjoy looking through my documenter albums. 

Inspired By: Literally everything. I'm constantly looking around for inspiration—from window displays at the mall, ads in magazines, funny things my kids say, nature, photographs, you name it! 

Obsessed With: Netflix binging, cooking, decorating, time with friends and family, baseball, the beach, and pretty paper

A Favorite Project: This is a favorite from back in 2014. It's pretty typical of my style—graphic and colorful with minimal embellishing. :)
