Sunday Sketch | Morgan Stockton

This week, our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout with patterned paper strips layered beneath the photo and journaling. Our card sketch features a stamped background and a patterned paper bow, and our pocket page sketch uses a 4" x 6" photo with light embellishing and a 3" x 4" card with a journaled tag layered on top. Creative Team member Morgan Stockton is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's pocket sketch! Be sure to follow Morgan here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Nancy Damiano's Thoughts layout:

Our card sketch comes from Carson Riutta's Wrapped with Love card:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Carson Riutta's OBX Spread Page 2 spread:

And here's Morgan's take on our scrapbook sketch:

For this week’s Sunday Sketch, I was really inspired by Nancy’s monochromatic color scheme and how she layered different strips of paper. Transferring this idea to my traveler’s notebook, I decided to switch it to horizontal so it created a guiding motion from one page to another. I wanted to go with a warmer palette, verses the blues that Nancy uses, because I’m crazy about the oranges in this month’s Documenter kit (each strip I used is just a slice of one of the kit's cards). Lastly, I couldn’t resist following Nancy’s lead and creating a little circular window with journaling underneath, but instead of a stamp, I went with a photograph (and added some puffy sticker embellishments for good measure!).

SUPPLIES: Kits - "Confidant" Documenter Kit, BFF Add-On Kit; Stamp - 4x6 2017 New Year Kickoff by One Little Bird; Ink - Studio Calico Color Theory Pigment Ink (Orange County); Other - Color Theory Clips (Orange County)

That card sketch really challenged me, so much that I wanted to see if I could use it to also created a scrapbook layout with it as well, and I ended up taking it literally as a gift. I also wanted to use that bow stamp set I bought as well. This was what I came up with:

I used the scrapbook sketch to create a sadly needed sympathy card. :(
