My interest in scrapbooking and photography has grown for almost a decade now, but before I was ever a scrapbooker, before I was ever a photographer, I was a writer. I once won a creative writing competition by convincing the judges that the pencil was man’s greatest invention of all time. (Afterall, how else would the inventors, and authors, and teachers, and scientists have recorded and shared their ground-breaking ideas and theories?) Of course, if I wrote the same essay today I would totally argue that the Internet was man’s greatest invention, but that wouldn’t be nearly as creative, would it?
As scrapbookers, the products and photos we use on our layouts are very important to us, but I believe that what future generations will appreciate the most about our scrapbooks are the stories behind the photos. Through our words, we have the amazing power to give people a glimpse into our souls… to see who we are and what makes us laugh or smile or cry… to see what is important to us and what we want to remember about the daily lives of our family and friends. My goal as a scrapbook artist is to record more stories for my children to cherish. My dream is that Studio Calico will help you do the same.
