Hey ladies! Welcome to Book Club 2010!! Below you'll find the schedule for the book club.
*Hosts: Please message me or comment on this thread your book selection for your month. You don't have to decide right away, but it'd help to do it as early as people, coz some people might like to plan ahead!*
There's still some months free...for the moment, I've scheduled myself to do them, but if you fancy hosting a month, let me know and I'll add you in!! Also, please let me know when you ladies would like to discuss the books each month...would you prefer a set date each month, say the 25th of each month, or a set day, like every Sunday of the month?
Here's the schedule:
February - Steph (*paperandglue*): The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
March - Rachel Z: Commited: A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage by Elizabeth Gilbert
April - Hanna
May - Patty (pattyanctil): Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin
Steph - I would like to do it on the same day of the month - like a Saturday. Unless you want to just do threads to discuss the book...and post to them for a week or so?!? Whatever way you want to do it! :) I am very excited!!! (Off to look up your book choice!)
Yeah, I think maybe the threads would be good to go on for like a week or so...coz then that way people can come and join in at their leisure, and they don't have to worry about missing it!And for internationals, like me, I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to come and chat! Heehee!
I'll take the month of May if you didn't want it Steph, and if not I'll think about a book tonight. I haven't been in a book club before although I have always wanted to join one so is there a criteia for the books chosen or do you just pick one you like?
Awesome, I bought Shadow of the Wind on Amazon this morning and I'll be good to go! I've been wanting to read that anyway so this just gave me a little shove!
I'm still thinking about my book, I have a little while :) so I'll definitely get back to you on that. OH, I'm so excited!
It looks really interesting, I hope everyone likes it! I was going to choose 2666 because it's been sitting on my nightstand for 2 years and it was going to give me the push I needed to read it but I heard it is pretty violent and has a lot of sex so maybe something a little more tame would be appropriate! If anyone has read 2666 let me know what you thought about it though!
I have never heard of the Feb book but after reading the reviews on Amazon I am so excited! Getting my copy now! Oh, and I too think that the thread format would work best!
Hi, fellow crafters; i am VERY new to studio calico and am very excited about it. But am curious, with the book club; does the person hosting that month decide on the book or what? Just not sure about how it all works. :)

I vote for threads. I had a hard time last year making the discussion time.
Can I join? Is there a seperate thread for that?

Of course you can take May, Patty! And yes, just choose a book you like...no criteria. I just want this to be as fun for people as possible!
i never know if i'll be able to join in, but the thread format is definitely preferable for me. :]
Really excited for new books!!! I agree with the thread format but would be willing to chat some too if anyone wants. :)

I vote for a thread too. I can't ever seem to make it to the chat. I bought the Feb book at Barnes and Noble today!

Another vote for threads...can't wait to start reading some of these! Got my Feb book with my xmas gift certificate...yeah!
Patty - I never heard of 2666 - I'll check it out on Amazon and maybe give it a spin!

I've been wondering too. I seems like it's fallen by the waistside a little. If it gets back up and going, I'd love to join in!

Thank youuuuu
