I'm trying to get into the halloween spirit, so I downloaded A Discovery of Witches. I am just not enjoying it. Does anyone have any recommendations for a slightly spooky (I want to be able to sleep at night) quick read?

"Heartshaped box" by Joe Hill. It's brilliant! It's about a man who buys a ghost on e-bay. Anything by Joe Hill, really. "Horns" isn't bad either. That one is about a man who one day wakes up with horns. He thinks he's hallucinating at first, but then people starts telling him about their hearts desires.

I don't know if John Ajvide Lindqvist has been translated into English yet. He's the one who wrote the book that became the movie "Let me in". My favorite book by him is "Människohamn", not sure what that may be translated as. It means both "In human form" and human port/dock. It's about a couple who lost their daughter to drowning and comes back to the island where she drowned to mourn.
