just wondering if anyone has some favourites they are willing to share? we read 'mortimer's christmas manger' and 'the animal's christmas eve' tonight. i was so happy to dig out my box of christmas books. and, while i am thinking about it, any favourite christmas books for big people?
We have a stack of lovely Christmas books--many of them we've outgrown in terms of reading level, but I still love to look through them every year. Favorites of mine include "Who Is Coming to Our House?" and Kate DiCamillo's "Great Joy."
We also love to read "A Child's Christmas in Wales" and "The Gift of the Magi" together every year. They're definitely for older readers (particularly Thomas's story), but we love the tradition of it.
melinda- we LOVE that book (great joy)!!! that's what i came in here wanting to recomment. what a great message.
in our house, we also love the soldier's night before christmas. haha!
We have tons -- the Polar Express is the perennial favorite here. And of course, The Grinch! With extra love for A Wish For Wings that Work and Margaret Wise Brown's Christmas in the Barn. I haven't gotten out our books yet.
For older kids "Letters from Father Christmas" and "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!" are both fun!
For grown ups -- of course if you haven't read A Christmas Carol, you ought to! And we love "Autobiography of Santa Claus"!
