I lost my SD card for my big camera, and I havent taken ANY good quality photos since Christmas O_O All my Project Life pictures have been cell pics, and Im tired of it. Anyway, I wanted to order a new SD card. There are some pretty cheap ones on Amazon, and I was just wondering if it really mattered what kind I get. I wont be storing my pictures on it, so I dont need one with a large memory, but I just wanted to make sure that the SD card makes no difference in the quality of the photos.
(P.S. Dont laugh at me if this is a silly question, lol!)
I am guessing it's a DSLR? If so, you want to make sure that it can take the photo's fast. That's what I remember from when we bought our card. Otherwise it takes longer to record the data on the card. Sorry don't remember what type it was though. Have you checked on cnet.com?
I wouldn't buy a super cheap one off Amazon. I was reading about how common it is to "counterfeit" memory cards not too long ago. If you read the reviews you will probably see a lot of people complaining abut using the card for awhile and then all of a sudden one day they get an error message that the files are corrupted. I'd just run to Wal-mart and pick one up, they aren't too expensive even at full price.
I just dont want to spend too much because I am sure I will stumble upon my card as soon as I buy a new one. The one I have (had) was about $25, and Im definitely not looking to spend that much on a new one. There is one on amazon for about $10, with pretty good reviews. Hopefully Ill find my nicer one soon and then I can just have the cheapie for backup. I just wanted to make sure it wouldnt lower the quality of my pictures.
Are you taking film as well with your card? Because to record HD video like the newer DSLRs do then you need a very fast card and the cheap ones just wont do. If it's only photos the more cheap options would be almost just as good, they do store the photos a little slower but for everyday use I've been told by more than 1 seller that it doesn't really matter that much. (I wouldn't get the cheapest one still though, but would go for something in the middle prize range.)
