I do not have a good editing program or software & am wondering which would be good to start with- it would need to be fairly user friendly. Also, i have an old photo that I would like to blur the background on to focus on the foreground- are there programs that will let me do that?

I use PSE 9 and I have found it to be pretty easy to use. You can blur a background in a few steps using PSE. There is a thread in this forum where another user gives step by step instructions on how to do the blur. If you search the forum I'm sure you'll be able to find it.

I have PSE and I really like it but didn't really start to use it well until I did a photo editing class online (I did the Jessica Sprague one)

Have you tried Picasa? I use that currently. I am wanting to upgrade to PSE this year, but the good thing is that Picasa is a free download on the net :)

I use Picasa too. It's really easy to use & you gotta love free. It's great for photo storage too. Keeps every photo you upload to your computer organized by date.
