I bought Lightroom 3 last October and just last night finally installed it. I have no clue what to do. I think I need to buy a book to help me learn and I will.
My question is this, is it hard to download presets? I tried last night so I could see how they worked. Do I need another program on my computer in order to download these because it would not work for me?
I am terrible with tech stuff (that's why it took me so long to install Lightroom 3) but I really want to learn to edit my photos. A goal this year for me is to play more with my camera.
Any help or point in the right direction is really appreciated!! :))
When I installed pre-sets I didn't have any problems. You do need to be in "Develop" mode to see them. Click on the develop tab (top right) and see if you see them (they will be on the left where all the pre-sets that came wit the software are located.
Library tab is for importing photos and organizing.
Develop is for editing them.
I started learning LR3 with a Scott Kelby book. The book was great for getting me up and running with the software. Once you start to understand the five modules, i.e., library, develop, slideshow, etc, you'll realize how easy the software is to navigate.

As for installing LR presets, try this MCPaction video on installing presets. http://www.mcpactions.com/lr-video-tutorials
