Do you send full instructions like they ask for. I know ST asks for full supply lists in subs but I don't do it as it's extra work until they request the page. Just wondering if that is accepted practice for CK as well.
Not sure for CK. I am still trying to find out where to get latest CK calls. Whenever I check their website it always seems like a generic call and not specific. Maybe I'm timing it wrong as to when I check there? Did you get a response on Facebook?
Here is my two cetns, but I usually add the supply list and a sentence about why I think that layout fits their call. I know all pubs like layouts with new/newer products so I guess it helps if you add the list? I am not sure though...
On another note, has anyone had CK accept layouts that have been on your blog or elsewhere?
I've had them accept ones that have been up AND I don't send lists.
BUT, before they accept them, they ask for the list. So, I will submit, then a period of time later they ask for the list of supplies -- then a period of time after that they have requested the page.
On them being posted...I think it really depends on the call and it sometimes says if they are looking for completely never seen.
Thanks Brenda! I have checked there on a few occasions but it was really generic-so I guess I was checking in between calls. :)
Thanks to all who have chimed in as well.
I have a friend who has had layouts published that weren't only on her blog but also in galleries and even Pinterest.
She hasn't had a problem but maybe these were published layouts before they became more strict with their policy. Definitely interested in hearing from others on this-as it is a big reason I haven't even tried to submit to CK. I want to follow the rules but I use can't see not posting anything I've recently created on my blog or here and waiting on the "chance" it might get picked up by CK. KWIM?
With that said, I think that while it's more rare here and other online galleries -- I think that if you look at average not online scrappers that are scrapping birthday parties, sporting events, etc they are looking for inspiration for 2 pagers. If you look in CK a majority of their layouts are, and have always been, 2 pagers.
When a page is picked up, CK will ask if has been posted and where and will evaluate. (I received an email with interest expressed but wanting to know about being posted) I assume that if there is too much 'exposure' they won't want it. I have had one page picked up and it was mulitphoto and was not posted at all.
Suz -they post intermittently, not regularly. The calls are sporadic and very specific for the most part. HTH!
I typically add supplies and a few sentences about my page to fit the call too. The page of mine that is in this month's mag they picked up from their gallery: I hadn't submitted it. Same with the one that is coming up. So they do sometimes use pages that have been posted!
They publish more two pagers because when they did surveys a few years ago, they found that was what their readers wanted.
Ursula - I would recommend that you include at least the key supply details in your submission; as at times they do like to know what products/manu you are using. just my two cents :)
For CK I do give the supply list and anything "special" that I did on the layout. I figure my submissions for them are a lot fewer than ST that I don't mind taking the extra step and they do seem to really want that.
Even with they ask for 2 page layouts if I have a one page that fits I still submit it and have had some picked up like that. I think they prefer a 2 pages, but will accept 1 pages too on occasion.
I will reiterate what Sarah said too. I have had one "denied" from them because it had too much exposure. It was a layout I did for Pebbles and was up on their blog for my design team work. I was told that layouts done for manufacturers and up on their blog/site won't be published.

Here you go, Suz! These calls are way too quick for me!
Don't know about your question though, Ursula! No experience with CK.

Hm why do they prefer 2-page layouts? Is this special for this month or is it always like that? Aren't 2-page layouts more... "rare"? ^^
They always prefer 2 page, multi photo layouts.

ST is MUCH more like what you see here.
The two page thing is a large part of why I haven't tried submitting also. I just don't do many that way.
