And how does Studio Calico comes up with names and theme for each month? I am still pretty new to SC and love their stuff so much. Hope somebody can help me with this.
Ya know, I was wondering the same thing. I know April has a huge hand in it and this CHA, Lisa T helped too. I've always thought Kelly helped name them, but I could be TOTALLY wrong!
I think they get a lot of the color inspiration from pinterest...as far as putting together kits, i think they just put together samples from CHA and go from there. Just my thoughts. And I've been told before that the DT has a hand in naming the kits :)
This was discussed before (I'll see if I got this right): The SC crew roam the halls during CHA - take samples, photos, etc. Then they adjourn to the hotel room and have a meeting and decide what to include in the kits, etc. They also source out smaller shops (think etsy) for those added embellishments. Can you imagine - putting 5 kits (main and add-ons) a month for months in advance! Intense, if you ask me. That's why I appreciate the hard work and excellent customer service of this place!
april usually puts the mains together before CHA, and rough drafts the addons. we walk the floor at cha and start looking for stuff to finish off the adds and spend a looooooooooot of time in the hotel room w/ catalogs and samples EVERYWHERE. this year, christine alphabetized our stacks of catalogs because she rocks like that. ;) there's a lot of juggling color matches (the images april works with pre-show are from online, and sometimes things look different in real life) and availability dates.
once we have the kits basically put together we decide what size stamps will go in each kit and start brainstorming ideas. kit names come after everything is put together and finalized.
i'll try to post a few pics of the cha hotel mess when i get back this afternoon - gotta go pick up ben!
No wait, I have more. Each month I hope (in vain) that I won't fall in love with the add-ons. I hope that maybe I'll only like maybe one or two but it's getting harder and harder each month! April & Co. you do an amazing job putting the kits together and I thank you so much for it. Without SC, my stash would be a horrendous collection of pieces I think will go together, but really don't. Because of SC, I've started using (and liking) things I wouldn't have given a second look at the stores. I'd be so lost without my monthly kits. So thanks for the hard work, amazing talent and eye for details. Now that's all I have to say :)
haha, now see, I, on the other hand, totally disagree with the last few posts. For me, it would be a total nightmare. That's why I am so glad someone with far better taste & far better ability than me (ie Studio Calico) does if for me. I just like to cut & paste paper & take photos. Choosing papers from the kit is enough of a struggle for me, even though there is not that much to choose from!
Thank you Studio Calico.
This past CHA was my first helping with kit planning---- just like Lisa said above, it is such a fun neat experience, and I can't tell you how much fun we had with July.... I really hope Lisa comes and posts some of the pics... it was crazy... we took over the beds, dressers, floors etc! we were throwing paper and embellishments everywhere, ripping things out of catalogs... all while eating desert from Cheesecake factory ;)

sweetsierra:
Thank you for helping me to figure this out. lol Hopefully, someone from the DT team or SC can help solve the mystery.

It seems like a HUGE task considering how many scrappy products there are out there!
Thank you , studioLA. And I totally agree with you on that, Siggy. ^^
