Hmmm....print feature on Silhouette Cameo - could you use it for 12x12 journaling?

Haven't ever used the print feature on my Silhouette, but I'm wondering if I could use it as a large format printer for journaling. Has anyone tried this?

If I'm not wrong the print part of the 'print and cut' needs to happen on your printer.

After you print, then you feed it into your silhouette and get it cut.

    HTH!

In the Silhouette store there are fonts that are for using with the sketch pens and it says you can type your journaling in the software and then use the pens to write your journaling.

Jen, just type sketch into the search box in the store and it will bring some up. You might be able to do this with your own font too, but I'm not sure about that.

The Silhouette will use any font files you have on your computer. That was the big selling feature (for me) when I bought the original version 5ish years ago.

Print and cutting is great! If you have a printer that will accommodate the 12 x 12 paper then you could easily do this. Just remember to put the registration marks on your mat before you begin placing other shapes.

As someone else mentioned you can use the sketch pens to journal. (no registration marks required for those) I have done this before and liked the results. There is another thread on the boards today that mentions the yahoo group for the Silhouette. Like that poster, I have heard great things about this group and their willingness to answer questions.

I have recently upgraded to the Cameo and I'm loving it too! I hope you have fun learning all the neat things this machine can do. :)

@GAmes56...how good do the sketch pens work for journaling on the textured cardstock that we get in our kits? Would smooth paper be better?

I just had to come back to say I'm really excited about this journaling on 12x12 bit! Makes me want to go play but I have other things I need to do. :(

That's what I meant...the sketch pens. :) I could also swear I read somewhere that you can just stick a ballpoint pen in there.

Jen, you can use a ballpoint pen. If you had the original SD you may have received the ball point pen holder you use for it. If not, they are available in the shop!

OHHHH! This is a brilliant idea! I love the sketch pens. The SD didn't come with a ball point pen holder, you'd have to get it separately. I am in the process of selling my SD on ebay right now. Since I got my Cameo, I'm addicted to it! Plus I don't have room for both! HA!
