I bought the Fiskars Sure Cut trimmer with the extended base maybe 6 months ago, I just went to use it and the wire is shredded! I'm not sure what happened but it prevents the blade from moving. Aside from cutting off the wire completely I'm not sure what to do with it. I never seem to find a trimmer I LOVE but I wasn't having any issues before now. Has this happened to anyone before? What trimmers does everybody love?

I have always used the FIskars Triple Track Trimmers and have NEVER loved them (because I swear they don't cut straight everytime); but I have NO IDEA what to switch to??

I just bought a Cutterpillar on Black Friday and honestly, this has changed scrapping for me..... FINALLY! I straight cut! I love it!

I had an old school Fiskars triple track and bought the one with the wire and I HATE it. I am just going to go back to the old one! Or maybe I'll try the cutterpillar. I can't cut straight to save my life!

I have the new Fiskars ProCision cutter and I LOVE it! I used to have the Tonic 12" guillotine but it started to cut crooked.

i have an old school fiskars trimmer. it doesn't cut straight on it's own, but i think i've finally figured out it's little quirks and i can usually get it to do a decent job with some adjusting. would love to find a good one that works well on it's own though!

OMG - the Cutterpillar is $100 (on SALE and $130 regularly). FOR A TRIMMER. You be trippin'. I'll stick to my Fiskars trimmer and my ruler. Like @Kelly Noel; with a few tweaks and some sweet talk you can finesse it.

$130....That's two months of kits plus add ons!!

The Cutterpillar looks awesome but it is not in my budget right now. I was actually looking to buy the Tonic 12" guillotine before but went with the Fiskars because Joanns had it in store. Maybe I'll just order it from Amazon...

I did do some googling and apparently the fraying wire is a common problem and Fiskars is good about replacing them. I think I still may order the Tonic though. I have always had Fiskars trimmers, but like Kelly, I've always had to adjust to get straight cuts.

Call them and tell them what happened they will send you a new one. At least they did me all I had to do was
    email them with a pic.

I've had a Tonic for years and years and I love it.

Pieces of me; I emailed Tonic about mine starting to cut crooked and they suggested that I tighten the pivot arm with a hex wrench. :)

@klee how long did it take to receive your replacement? I'm terribly impatient ;-)

I just tried the Fiskars ProCision, but I'm having issues with the paper not cutting crisply. My edges are kind of gnarly about 1/3 of the time. :(

I've used my Tonic 12" Guillotine cutter for years & it is the only one that's stood the test of time for me.

  19. mandadej

Ok, I just ordered the Tonic guillotine. And I'll only be trimmer-less 2 days. Gotta love Amazon Prime!

i use the fiskars rotary trimmers... i've always been happy with them, but i'd agree that you do have to take a little time to learn the quirks of the fiskars trimmers.

i would definitely get in touch with their customer service about your problem. i bet they'll take care of you. plus, waiting a little bit for a replacement would be better than spending money for a new one, right?

oh and i will say that back in the day, when i worked at an lss... we had the tonic guillotine in the crop room, so i used it on occasion and i did like it. i never bought one though because of the cost & the fact that i am pretty accident prone. i always had to be extra cautious with it, so i think i prefer a trimmer where i can relax a bit more when using it. if that makes sense? lol.
