Editing photos of your friends child post mortem is one of them. I know these will be a blessing to the family but I am nearly sick from the doing of it. It is hard to imagine that ones child in life is only hooked up to every imaginable machine and the only opportunity to hold that child or photograph her precious face is after she no longer has the breath of life in her.
I have heard that photographing peoples children who've died is a ministry that is really a blessing and I'd thought of volunteering my services for this. After this, I just don't know.
I'm sorry but I can't share this with the folks here as it's just too painful for everyone and I don't want them to know how hard it was. Thanks again for the prayers and support.
aww girl, this is just too awful for you, please please look after your self. It must be awful but you are right these will mean so so much to your friends in the future.
Also it may not be so hard if it is babies you don't know, yes it will still be awful but not as close to home as poor Emma
Your strength and dedication to your friend is beautiful.....such an amazing and selfless gift that you are giving to them. prayers and hugs to you and your friends.
Prayers for you Ursula. I know that these photos will be a blessing to the grief and healing process for the babe's family and you are an amazing friend to do it. God will give you the strength you need.
Ursula, it is a ministry, and your sacrifice of your peace of mind and emotions is a great gift! In this case where you are so close to the situation it is probably harder than most situations. But that's what we do for the ones we love - make sure they have the blessings that we know they will needs as they go through the tough roads of life. Kudos to you, and I'm sure a star in your crown for this one!
Ursula, you are giving this family an amazing gift. I can't imagine how hard it must be to edit those images (I was a photographer once upon a time). Make sure and take care of yourself through the process...sometimes, we realize what an amazing life we have when we witness others life challenges.
I am excited to be able to share that the family is really blessed with the images. I can't tell you how that made me feel. I had this gnawing feeling they would somehow be hurt by them but they were very grateful and blessed. So very glad for that.
As a momma to an angel, I cannot tell you how much this will mean to your friend. This is a priceless gift you are giving them & they will be treasured (even if they are not ever on display, etc). Just knowing they are there will be such a comfort to your friend!
I've done it once for the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep organization and thought I could handle it. I did fine photographing her but had a REALLY hard time editing them. I couldn't do any more after that. You gave them an amazing gift.
Oh Ursula, I'm just now seeing this. How very sad...you are a very amazing friend! (((hugs))) to you...and hope the family can find some comfort and peace in the midst of this sorrow.
