it's 5.40pm over here and I confess I'm so tempted to let the kids have peanut butter sandwich for dinner because i'm so damn sleepy. Sam is in Melbourne. Only us today.
don't think I'll do it though. but that thought is in my mind.
I used to feel guilty until one day I was doing circle time with my prep/ kindergarten/ transition class and asked them all what they had for dinner last night. I stopped feeling guilty after that, and now every once in a while I let them have 2 minute noodles for tea.
oh my girls do too... but right now, we're in the middle of fasting month and I want them to eat properly for dinner. and ... yup.. i tossed some pasta with leftover chicken and called it good. better than peanut butter sandwich? LOL.
Sasha, I confess that I had the same dinner plans last night! DS had a ham sandwich, DH had peanut butter & jelly, DD made her own pasta while I was out buying school supplies.
I had ice cream!
Confession for today: Still no plan for tonight's dinner!
pb&j and cereal is perfectly acceptable for dinner here in my house as well... just not in fasting month.
we fast from 5.30am to 7.15pm. No water, no food, no nothing. I pity my kids - hence the pasta. other normal days.. we sometime go with cereal for two out of three meals in a day. LOL.
sasha, i hope i am not being too intrusive by asking but what is the observance that goes along with fasting month. i am absolutely fascinated by your devotion and discipline.
ETA...oh, sasha, i just realized you are observing ramadan. so sorry for my ignorance in my original question.
we fast for a month before celebrating Eid. that's like our christmas. this way - we teach children (and remind ourselves) that while we have a lot of food to be eaten anytime, there are others who can't afford even a simple meal. also a good way to sort of 'detox' our system once a year.
In addition to abstaining from eating and drinking, we also increase restraint, such as abstaining from sexual relations and generally sinful speech and behavior. ( i still struggle with the sinful speech and behavior part) :)
I confess that I got so busy this morning that I didn't eat and at 1pm made and ate a whole box of Kraft Mac n Cheese.........so much for my attempts at Gluten free LOL!!

penny - you're making me want ice cream. at 10.30pm. off to look in the freezer. lol.
I'm not a great cook (plus I don't like doing it) so some night's the hubby & I get lazy and eat cereal for supper.
Sasha I can relate to feeling lazy. Luckily we don't have kids just dogs. A scoop of kibble each and it's done ;-)
I find PB&J and cereal perfectly acceptable for dinner! :)
