Yay so excited yet nervous about flying to US on thursday for CHA!! I have a few extra days and am looking for recommendations for shopping. I would love to visit some cool shops for housewares and vintage finds. We dont have thrift/ antique shops in Hong Kong and am dying to search for treasure!! any suggestions? also looking for cool shops like Anthropologie (which is on the list)... or fun stationary or design type stores... any cool markets that are a must???

Also I am doing CHA solo and would love to meet some SC people.... My mom is meeting me there to help out but she is uber new to scrapping . I would love to meet some people who I know from here who i can chat with and know what I am talking about ha ha... anyone want to meet up?? have dinner or a coffee or just say hello??

i'm not super familiar with LA, but if you're looking into visiting anthropologie, then you might want to check urban outfitters too. it's like the "younger" version of anthro, but they occasionally have cool stuff there.

if there's a paper source in the area, i'd check that too. i love stopping in there to buy envelopes to use on projects and they have other various paper/craft supplies.

sorry i'm not more help, but i thought i'd throw those two out there. we have both of them all over the bay area, so i feel like they're probably common in LA.

Anaheim is a distance to LA, like at least 45 minutes. I'm now 45 minutes south of Orange County.. I grew up in Orange County & LA so I can sort of direct you. I'm not sure what you want to do ... Hollywood & LA I recommend either Santa Monicas 3rd St. Promenade or The Grove. Or Hollywood Blvd. for the Walk of Stars. In OC, I recommend Laguna Beach, Corona del Mar, Newport Beach. In Laguna, there are quite a few good restaurants on the water, or close to it, on Pacific Coast Highway. Newport Beach I recommend going down to Fashion Island. It's the Mecca of Orange County upscale shopping. If you prefer to not go out to the coast, there is South Coast Plaza mall, which is really 2 malls, is the largest mall in California. (At least it was a few years ago.) There I'm sure is lots of suggestions for almost any topic online - maybe yelp.com?

I love love love lululemon for some cute running/yoga (I wear it for every day life!). expensive - yes but it makes your booty look good no matter what the booty looks like otherwise :) There is a big shopping center in El Segundo which is near LAX and has a H&M, Anthro, Jcrew, Lululemon and lots more.

    Thanks guys!

@Amy yes Urban Outfitters is on the list as well! I order from both sites all the time and have them ship to Hong Kong... can't wait to just buy and not pay shipping or have to wait ha ha!!

@Forsara thanks thats a lot of places to consider!! I have been to the Grove before and loved it.. will be in LA on my last day and thinking I will go there.

@daynarose hehe I love Lulu too.. its actually Canadian... (which is where I grew up) and we now have it here in Hong Kong as well... Thanks for letting me know about the shopping centre near LAX. My last night there I am staying near the airport so it will give me something to do.

I am really searching for funky little shops or a place to find vintage finds and good thrift stores for houseware finds...

Another option for a lot of shops in the LA area is Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade. There's also a great Michael's right up on 4th Street so you can jump in to grab any US-only or hard-to-get crafty bits there. They should be setting up for Valentine's Day soon!

If your looking to hit up CHA and Anthropologie I would suggest South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. It's actually a short distance from the Anaheim Convention Center. Also located on the same floor and within steps from Anthropologie is Paper Source, ZGallery, Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel.

If you happen to make your way to the Santa Monica/Venice area I would highly recommend stopping in at Urbanic. It's a paper heaven. I was there just over a month ago.

Also, be sure to stop by the Studio Calico booth to say "hi"! I'll be there. :)
