Stephanie Howell

Growing up with a ridiculously artistic mother, Stephanie tried and abandoned many crafts in frustration before she finally stumbled onto scrapbooking and fell in love. She made a few scrapbooks (in the loosest sense of the term) when she was in college, but truly became obsessed when she was pregnant with her first daughter. Scrapbooking is her therapy and has gotten her through six of her husband’s overseas deployments.

Stephanie has been published in Creating Keepsakes, Simple Scrapbooks, Scrapbook and Cards Today, Scrapbooks Etc., Memory Makers and Scrapbook Trends magazines. She designs for Lily Bee and Jenni Bowlin Studio and has guest designed for a multitude of wonderful companies.

Stephanie lives in Georgia and is married to Jimmy, who is a Captain in the army. She is also a stay-at-home mom to Harper Elizabeth (3 yrs), Sadie Caroline (2 yrs), and twin baby girls, Lucy Claire and Catherine (Cate) Bennett. In her spare time, she loves antiquing, reading, and watching reality tv (her dirty little secret). She dreams of learning to sew, embroider, knit, quilt, and cook (well). But most of all, she loves just being together as a family, and she relishes those moments…as they are few and far between.

According to Stephanie:

I can't imagine my life without …
well, there is the obvious answer of my husband and little girls, but my first answer would be books. I have been in love with reading for as long as I can remember. My mom used to leave me with a book at the book store and every time, I would have already read it before she was ready to leave. It’s my escape. Of course, these days, I’m not reading novels…more like a scrap mag or Country Living. But reading still is, and always will be, my first true love.

I would love to win a shopping spree to...
Anthropologie. Are you kidding me? Ridiculously expensive jeans and vintage kitchen items in one store? Bring it on.

I was most embarrassed when...
well, I have been embarrassed many, many times. I’ve kind of made it a habit. But looking back, I’d have to pick an incident in fifth grade. There was a boy who was always kicking me in the shins (probably flirting, looking back on it). One day he kicked me and I fell down in the MIDDLE of the classroom moaning and crying. I was very dramatic. I swear I lay there for an hour. And the teacher? She STEPPED OVER ME and continued teaching. I don’t blame her. I’m a teacher now and I know kids like that. So annoying, haha!

If I could be anywhere, I'd be...
on Harbour Island, in Eleuthera, Bahamas. We went there for our honeymoon. Pink sand beaches, gorgeous lush scenery, and amazing drinks. Sounds like a dream right now.

If I could be on any tv game or reality show, it would be...
The Amazing Race, I’d be really spazzy and bad, but my Army Ranger husband would pull us through. Or maybe Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style. I used to be quite the fashionista, but not so much anymore. I’d love for him to style me and teach me how to dress for my body type and mommy role.

My guilty pleasure is...
a crisp, cool glass of white wine. While in a bubble bath. Never ever happens anymore.

I thought I would never...
be married to someone in the army. Growing up I knew nothing about the military. Well, except for the fact that boys in uniform are cute! Now I’m married to my hero, and I also have a brother in the Navy. I never, ever would have guessed.

You would never guess it, but I...
used to play lacrosse in high school. All state, actually. No one ever believes me. Ha!
