Marrying into the Navy in 2000 took Laura to the great state of Oklahoma, where she found a scrapbook store on almost every corner. With a husband who was often deployed and time on her hands, a hobby was born. Always a memory keeper, scrapbooking made sense to Laura.
She has since been published in Memory Makers Magazine, Creating Keepsakes Magazine, Simple Scrapbooks, and numerous other publications. She is a member of the Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame and a Garden Girl at Two Peas in a Bucket.
Laura lives in an old house in an old neighborhood of Baltimore with her husband, Ken, son, Charlie, and golden retriever, Charmer the dog. She will finish her master’s in writing from Johns Hopkins University in 2010.
According to Laura:
When I was a child...I was 80 percent deaf in one of my ears! My nursery school teacher called my mom and told her I would turn my head to listen to her speak. I got tubes and voila! could hear like new.
I was most embarrassed when...I am forced to explain my scrapbooking to someone who doesn’t scrapbook.
If I could be anywhere, I'd be...The Virgin Islands…St. Croix or St. John, I’d take either!
My least favorite chore is...one word: toilet
If I could be on any tv game or reality show, it would be...the bachelor. Ha! Kidding. I would like to be on Extreme Home Makeover. As the person getting the new, huge, big, beautiful house. OK?
If a mystery package arrived on my doorstep, I'd hope it would be...scrapbook supplies or a new wardrobe. Or maybe both in one box.
My guilty pleasure is...cupcakes. Is it a guilty pleasure if you let yourself have it anytime you want?
I thought I would never...be a working mother. I always thought I would stay home. But I have a great work situation and I am really lucky to have a successful, rewarding job and time with my Charlie.
