Donna Downey from Huntersville, North Carolina
As the author of the innovative book series, Yes, It's a Scrapbook! Donna is a craft and paper-product junkie. She could (and often does) spend hours walking the aisles of her local office supply, fabric, craft and hardware stores just gathering items and ideas on how to turn everything into a scrapbook. She took to scrapbooking as an extension of her paper product and photography addiction in 2000, when she walked into her local craft store in search of a hobby and walked out of the store excitedly clutching her new packs of brightly colored cardstock, decorative scissors, and a glue stick.
As a Craft-Media artist, Donna enjoys experimenting, blending and transforming both traditional and unexpected items into meaningful pieces of self-expression. A former elementary school teacher, she has synthesized her first love of teaching with her passion for craft, and she enjoys traveling across the globe teaching her workshops at scrapbook stores and events, writing books, gathering inspiration, designing, and creating art.
Originally from the Jersey shore, she now lives in North Carolina, with her incredibly supportive husband Bill and their three children, McKenna, Payton and Cole.
According to Donna:
When I was a child... i wanted to be a pizza maker and a teacher when i grew up...i have done both jobs!
I can't imagine my life without... my husband and children
I would love to win a shopping spree to... the gap!
I was most embarrassed when... i was overweight and wearing a bathing suit
If I could be anywhere, I'd be... stratford upon avon, england. i would love to live in one of the country homes there!
My least favorite chore is... dishes
If I could be on any tv game or reality show, it would be... divine design-HGTV and have a room designed by candace olson
If a mystery package arrived on my doorstep, I'd hope it would be... a new coach bag
My guilty pleasure is... chips and guacamole
I thought I would never... be able to enjoy running
If a genie granted me three wishes, I’d wish for... health, stability and love for my family
You would never guess it, but I... hate ordering pizza or take out...i am normally outgoing and fearless, but there is something that i don't like about doing it.
