Emilie Ahern from New Castle, Delaware
In 1997 Emilie Ahern traveled to Europe for the first time and before leaving compiled a Travel journal complete with dedicated pages for journaling, ticket stubs and photos. Each night of her trip she filled out the information from that day and by the time she landed again on US soil her travel journal was completed. It is still a treasured keepsake today. That began her passion for documenting her life through photos, memorabilia and stories.
Since then she has enjoyed amazing opportunities in scrapbooking. Emilie has been published in Creating Keepsakes, Simple Scrapbooks, Memory Makers, Scrapbook Trends, Paper Crafts, Scrapbooks Etc, Handmade and other scrapbooking publications. She has also been blessed to share her passion for crafting on numerous manufacturer design teams and by teaching classes all over the US. She currently teaches classes for Big Picture Scrapbooking online. Emilie was recently named a 2009 Simple Gal and, after Simple Scrapbooks closed, joined the team at Write. Click. Scrapbook. Emilie is also the Editor in Chief of her latest project, The Scrap Review, which is a site dedicated solely to reviewing scrapbooking products in an honest and unbiased way.
Emilie currently lives in Delaware, but will be moving this August to Amish Country in Pennsylvania with her husband and children for a new job opportunity. She is a stay-at home mom of two little red-headed girls, who have perfectly beautiful names, but who they find themselves most often calling “Chicken and Fifi”.
According to Emilie:
I can't imagine my life without... my family, my faith, classic literature, television and ice water…I adore it!
I would love to win a shopping spree to... JoAnns. Besides scrapping I knit, sew, oil paint (professionally), cake decorate and…well…anything crafty is game.
My least favorite chore is... dishes. I would clean the toilet over loading the dishwasher any day. Sadly, you will always find dirty dishes in my sink.
If a mystery package arrived on my doorstep, I'd hope it would be... my mother, visiting from Sweden.
My guilty pleasure is... television. I know it’s cool for Mommies (like Madonna) to say they don’t even own televisions, but I am an addict. I am especially addicted to Project Runway. And Season 2 of Project Runway is where I cross over from “guilty pleasure” into the “mental illness” category. I pretty much have it memorized.
I thought I would never... be this happy.
If a genie granted me three wishes, I’d wish for... world peace, world peace and…no wait, that’s not true…I really want our student loans paid off, a room in our home dedicated solely to crafting and the ability to eat whatever I wanted and never weigh more than 130 pounds.
You would never guess it, but I... was extremely shy as a child. One time, in 7th grade, a popular girl who had a crush on my brother said “hi” to me in the hallway at school and I was so shy I started crying. Shyness is not something I struggle with anymore unless people are singing Happy Birthday to me and then I am awkward and 10 years old again.
