Megan Hoeppner
Megan Hoeppner is the Creative Editor for Creating Keepsakes magazine, which means she gets to do lots of…yes, you guessed it, “creative” things. Besides writing and editing the magazine’s popular “Tips & Tricks” and “Creative Spaces” columns, she is delighted to have a chance to create scrapbook pages for each issue and special issue of the magazine. Teaching is another of Megan’s job highlights, because few things bring her more joy than connecting with others who are passionate about crafting.
Megan has worked in the scrapbooking industry for many years. Before joining the Creating Keepsakes team, she worked for Simple Scrapbooks magazine as a senior editor and, prior to that, for Paper Crafts magazine as an associate editor. Before working in publishing, she was employed at Stampin’ Up! for several years as a public relations specialist. Clearly this is one industry and hobby that she can’t get enough, and she feels very blessed to have had the opportunities she’s had.
According to Megan:
When I was a child...my suitcase full of art supplies was one of my most prized possessions.
I can't imagine my life without...Cory, the sweet man I share my life with. He’s the best husband a gal could ask for.
I would love to win a shopping spree to...NYC! Do they have shopping sprees to entire cities? ;) If not, I suppose I would say Material Girls (a fabric shop), Target, Anthropologie or IKEA.
I was most embarrassed when...I walked across my college campus with my skirt tucked up under my backpack. Why, oh why, didn’t anyone bother to tell me? It was the loud snickering of students that finally clued me in.
If I could be anywhere, I'd be...touring Europe. Besides Mexico, I’ve never been out of the states, and I think it’s high time I made a trip.
My least favorite chore is...cleaning. Yes, I know that’s a broad answer, but I really dislike all aspects of cleaning. There are too many wonderful things I could be doing instead.
If I could be on any tv game or reality show, it would be...The Price is Right, hands down! I actually have a rather funny (and tragic) story about this very thing. You’ll have to ask me about it sometime.
If a mystery package arrived on my doorstep, I'd hope it would be...a box full o’ money. Talk about a fabulous mystery!
My guilty pleasure is...Twilight. I know it’s meant for tweens and teens, but I just can’t help myself. Go, Team Edward!
I thought I would never...be one of those Twilight weirdoes, but then I had an eight-hour flight (after layovers) home from CHA, so I picked up the first book, and you know the rest of the story. (If you don’t, please see my aforementioned response.)
If a genie granted me three wishes, I’d wish for...good health and financial security for my loved ones. That’s all. Wouldn’t that make everything else seem okay? After all, it’s our relationships with others that really matter.
You would never guess it, but I...stink, and always have stunk, at basketball and volleyball. Yes, I am 5’ 11”, but being tall does not necessarily equate to mad sporting skills. ;)
