This is one i tried for HOF, the journal your passion assignment. i’m a “just the facts” journaler, so i decided to step out of my comfort zone and have some fun. so i wrote a poem. i haven’t posted the poem anywhere because i’m shy :P but thought i would here … because i like it here!
here it is:
an ode to the color BLUE
oh, blue – from the ocean to the sky
and all there is in between…
you are my favorite! but why?
was it the delicate earring – a turquoise flower
the color said to have communicative power?
now i have but one, the other lost in the dark,
in the theatre, after getting caught in my scarf.
or is it my favorite shade of bazzill…
the orange peel texture called sea breeze …
i see it and hold it and buy it with ease.
then there’s navy, teal and splash!
i buy that too, in a flash.
then there’s the open sea
calling to me …
your blue waves lull me to sleep,
a comfort I wish to keep.
then there’s something most precious of all …
the true blue i called abby … a siamese most blabby.
she loved to talk and, oh the way she would walk …
all but a memory now … for Heaven alas, did call.
oh, but I shant sing the blues,
there’s much too much to lose.
you bring calm, comfort and relief
for you to me are the color of peace.
