Do you really think this is the case even with after absorbing digital and Simple? I don't want to hear another magazine is gone, especially a founding father, lol. But who knows? They need to pay their bills! (they owe me money too).

The Simple editorial board received word today that we should be on the lookout for a letter from CRG Partners this week, outlining various "payment options." Judging from the CRG website, which offers such services as Turnaround Managment, Bankruptcy Reorganization, and Performance Improvement, it doesn't bode well. And you can add me to the list of contributors they owe. Ugh. - {my blog - gettin' by} |

I was wondering who and how many had received the information about CRG Lisa. I checked out their website and that's what put me on the path of thinking they are filing Chapter 11. It's not looking good at all and considering none of my emails are being answered either by editorial or accounts payable staff, I figured things were getting worse, not better. It's frustrating.

Yeah it will be interesting to see what the letter says. The term "payment options" leads me to believe they are not planning to pay everything that is owed. Which really sucks.

I know Tina, I usually keep this conversation on a private designer board. And I've held off discussing this more publicly for a long while. But the reality has set in and I think all people need to know that they should submit with caution. They are in breach of many many contracts right now and that's just not right.

Stillsmiling (I can't remember your name) - but yes, Creating Keepsakes is the original magazine founded by Lisa Bearnson. She actually left the magazine several years ago but as the founder still writes a little blurb (though to be honest, I believe it's ghost written). Now the following may not be exact and in the correct chronology - but in general this is what happened. CK then created Simple Scrapbooks - Stacy Julian's brainchild. CK and Simple were purchased by Primedia - a publishing company that had several other mags (like motorcyclist mags and other hunting mags - very diverse). Eventually, they created CK Media as an offshoot company and took all the crafting pubs and put them under that CK Media umbrella (this included PaperCrafts, Simple, Creating Keepsakes and their Digital magazine). first the digi ended, then Simple. Based on the current situation, it does not look good for CK either. And well, honestly, I don't really think HOF has anything to do with it. But that's just me. -

hmmmmmmm so sorry for those missing out on pay....that's not good. I am so bummed out today- I was to have photos in Life Image's April issue, but turns out that they are only planning for a January 2010 publication next, not quarterly. I AM SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED. There's no guarantee that they would be in there, either. - ~AMY

i just got notices this week that both mary englebreit mag and country home mag were folding ... m.e. subs are being transferred to martha, and country home subs are being taken over by better homes. i think unless there is a large and stable umbrella (ie meredith publishing), a lot of mags are going to go into the red. and scrap mags have a high need for money out every month, paying designers. it's sad, but i think web content is really the way things are going ... there are so many wonderful message boards with galleries that are free, people no longer need mags as much. - michele |

WOW...lots of interesting info here. I too am owed payment from CK for 2 of my creations and was told that I may not even get it too. That is too bad that they are doing this...it will definitely effect them negatively on many levels' for both readers and submitters. Kimberly xo |

What do you think? Has anyone actually been paid by them in the last six months?
