My favorite book is actually Gone with the Wind. I love that book! I just finished Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult and I loved it. Now I’m on to Water for Elephants. - ~ Davinie ~ |

i loved loved loved Water for Elephants Davinie! can’t wait to hear what you think! i’m a big fan of Jodi Picoult … the last book i read of hers was "The Pact". [although i must admit that it left me feeling super depressed!] i’m pretty sure that the movie based on "My Sister’s Keeper" is coming out soon!

I love Jodi, but I am always baffled, lol. Seems like a lot of the times her storyline is so sad! LOVED the Pact. Sad about that one too. Change of Heart brings back a character from another book of hers so that was cool. It was a good read, and of course, I cried at the end too! Water for Elephants. So far, I’m just through the Prologue, lol. But I am already hooked. What the heck! - ~ Davinie ~ |

"julie & julia" is wonderful, alex! i actually ran across her blog early on in her quest, and was so bummed when she stopped keeping it. then she posted that the blog was being turned into a book and i was over the moon! enjoy every word of it … and i dare you to not want to cook something new! recently finished "names my sisters call me" and "the way life should be" ... both nice, easy summer reads. now i’m on "three cups of tea" – decidedly NOT easy chick lit! lol - michele |

I’m part-way through Three Cups of Tea, too, Michele. I agree – not a mindless read. And Alex – I started Twilight about two weeks ago and was totally a skeptic. A vampire love store?!!? Seriously. I was prepared to hate it and felt ridiculous about reading it. But. . . I LOVED IT! Now, I’m almost finished with New Moon and my copy of Eclipse is on its way. -

This weekend I read a lot. Obviously my gardens are now full of weeds and I haven’t finished any scrapping. Here is my list: The Kite Runner…I was surprised I liked it. The story flowed and drew you in despite the sadness. The Lovely Bones…Again…surprised due to the subject matter. However, I found the point of view it was written intriguing. Though I wanted the "bad" guy to get more than he did. Julie and Romeo…fluff read for lying around the pool. It wasn’t bad. It wasn’t that good. Another twist to Romeo and Juliet, but no one dies. Davinie, I loved Water for Elephants. Not going to give anything away, but when you finish let me know how you liked the ending. Barb, I just finished New Moon and liked it. I liked it a bit better than the first in the series. Thanks everyone on giving me more books to put on my Goodreads to-read list!

Okay I’ve really added to my list! I have Water for Elephants at the top of my ‘to be read’ pile and I have Julie and Julia. A friend gave it to me but I never got around to it. Sounds like I better put it back in my pile. I loved My Sisters Keeper even though I bawled through the entire thing! I’ve picked up The Lovely Bones several times and it’s intrigued me but I’ve never read it. Might have to re-think that one. Might have to also re-think Twilight. I’ve been a skeptic about it, too but have read that soooo many people like it. Who else has read anything by Lorna Landvik? I’ve read and enjoyed all of her books but my favorite would have to be Patty Jane’s House of Curl. Another favorite of mine would have to be The Ya Ya Sisterhood. LOVE that one! |

Nancy… I agree, To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the best! Right now I am re-reading Narnia… all of them, I am on the 2nd book right now (The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe)... easy read, but great story. The last book I finished was The Pillars of the Earth… Amazing book… I couldn’t put it down. I am just also starting to read The book Thief. It is about a young girl in Nazi Germany who finds the power of books, but has to steal them. Just starting, but so far it’s good. Thanks for all the other recommendations, I think the next book on my list will have to be Water for Elephants… It sounds very good. - Mandee

Alex, once you start, you won’t be able to put it down. I think I read it in 5 days. I loved that book. I read it during nap time, and into the wee hours of the morning… I couldn’t put it down… everytime I thought nothing else could happen… I was wrong. It’s a great read. Mandee

I’m working my way through PIllars of the EArth. It is huge! I"m only about 250 pages in. I read 3-4 books at a time. I want to start another Kate White mystery. I LOVE those! trashy, but so good. I’ve heard so many good things about the vampire love stories. might check those out. |

I too read the Twilight book series due to all the hype I read on scrapbookers’ blogs. I was skeptical at first but now I can’t wait for book 4. :) I love Jodi Picoult too. Last book I read of hers was My Sister’s Keeper. Need to pick up another of her books.

Oh yeah, and I know this is completely nerdy of me… just ask my DH, he tells me all the time… I don’t care though, I LOVE the Harry Potter books. I have read them all at least 5 or 6 times. Easy reads, great characters, great story!!! Mandee

lol, alex … we must have the same taste in books! i read "prep" while in boston … definitely fascinating. i could relate so much to her fears because i felt so similar in many ways when i was a kid, but looking at it from an adult perspective gave it a completely different meaning. other books that are good "food for thought" – "the effects of light," "what i loved," "we need to talk about kevin" (totally depressing and horrifying, but also very important). - michele |

Sadly I haven’t been able to stick to one book lately! I’ve been re-reading Ali Edward’s Life Artist and also reading Caffeine for the Creative Mind and Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life. Last book I finished was a re-reading of To Kill A Mockingbird. Love that book. Has to be on my top 10 all time favorite books list! What are your favorite books? I love to read so I’m always up for seeing what everyone else is enjoying and maybe add to my ‘to be read list’!
