Does anyone know of a good LSS to shop?  I live just north of Dallas and there's nothing but MIchaels and Hobby Lobby.

Just wondering..I have been ordering online, but sometimes ya just want to see it in person before you buy something....know what I mean?

My in-laws are in the Dallas area (more Ft. Worth.)  I went to a pretty nice one with my MIL.  I don't remember what it was called, but I can ask her.

Oh - maybe that was it. The Scrapbook Warehouse... I'll ask MIL tomorrow. It was almost 2 years ago that I went to the store with her.

mandie, it was HUGE!! I think it was in Lewisville, that's on our route into Dallas. We stopped there everytime. I was sad it closed.

Briana:

And now you will know where I live. I live about 10 minutes from what was once the Scrapbook Warehouse.  Yes, it was huge, but more blank wasted space than anything.  I was really excited to discover it and that it was at that time 2 minutes from my apt.  Anyway, after several trips there to find out that they carried rather old product, the girls that worked there were not very interested or knowledgable about scrapbooking, I told myself unless I really had to, would I shop there. I then found Recollections, which I ended up working for and having a blast. But then Michael's the owner of Recollections decided to shut down this business.  Piss me off and a lot of others. So then I said oh well Scrapbook Warehouse again, but guess what, after months of lying to their customers telling us they were downsizing their store, they were moving down the street, they were going to carry the latest and greatest, people and employees came to their door on Monday to discover they closed for business.

Sorry I sound so negative, just no good experiences there and I hate being lied to.

Scrappin' Bunnies is in McKinney on 75.  I've only been there twice, but they had new stuff both times.  Paper Source opens in Northpark Mall on August 2nd.  Not so much scrap stuff as general paper crafts and other cool stuff - can't wait!   I'd love to make the trip down to Waxahachie to The Crafty Scrapper.  They had a great booth at the convention in Arlington.  I do go to Scrapbook Barn if I'm close to it.  Stamp Asylum in Plano has great stamping stuff if you're into that too.

OMG, Aleida, that's terrible! When I shopped there, it was like 4 or 5 years ago it seems. Definitely before my son was born in 2005, probably more like 2004. I figured they really had the market cornered in the Dallas and surrounding areas, especially being right there on that major interstate.  I went to Archiver's ONCE and never got to go back since they closed. Do you go to the one in Carolton?

A lot of my customers from Recollections go to Scrapbook Barn as there really aren't much choices.  I heard of stamp asylum but heard it's more for stampers than scrapbookers. I have to check it out and see.  I've begged archivers to open their doors in the Dallas area now that Recollections has ceased operating.  Briana, I love shopping online it's more economical for me.  Plus the girls here help me with getting info about product lines.  ;)  Anyway the Barn is okay, a little high $ wise, but okay. They have stuff and a cropping area, etc.

I totally know what you mean about shopping online. I live in the sticks. If I want to go to a LSS, I would have to drive a 3 hour round trip and when I get there, there won't be anything I haven't already seen online, especially with all the sneaks we get around here like you said. I save money on gas by shopping online, but I probably end up spending more online since there is just so much goodness that the LSS probably won't have (and that is too bad, really). I don;t know though, by the time you spend gas, eating out two meals, the mandatory stop at Target when I'm in the city,  . . . .

I think I meant Recollections and not Archivers a little while ago.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Aleida,  I've been to the Scrapbook Barn once b/c it was quite a journey to get there and I was kinda dissappointed when I saw how little they had.

I do shop online a little too much since I live in Aubrey and shopping centers aren't too close to me.

Corrie, you are correct.  Regarding the SB and the lady that owes it is not very friendly. I think though they are carrying more because of the closings of other scrap stores.  I did get some nice JB paper and items there.

I live south of Dallas, and we actually have several stores around here, one in Midlothian, and two in Waxahachie.  The first one is called Just Scrap It, kinda small, not the latest and greatest product, but this is where I crop, super nice staff/owner.  The other one is called Crafty Scrapper, it's in downtown Waxahachie in an old building, and they have the latest and greatest everything, and classes and an online store.  Their design team/instructers make beautiful things.  Worth the drive, (to me) especially for a class/shopping trip combo!  Let me know if anyone wants to go!

I'd love to go to Waxahachie someday!  Maybe I can convince the DH to stop sometime when we're on our way out of town...

I passed through Waxahachie a month or so ago and could remember others talking about an awesome LSS there-wish I had taken the time to really go look for it. My brother lives in Dallas so maybe next time I go visit him I'll have him take me. He'll love that. ;)

I'm in the Dallas area as well, in fact I'm pretty close to Aleida.  Everthing she said about the Scrapbook Warehouse is true and then some.  I had friends that taught some classes there and worked part time and I always got an ear full when I talked to them. I haven't stepped foot in Scrapbook Barn in ages.  Used to shop there with the previous owner which left a bad taste in my mouth so I don't shop there that much.  I get my hair done across the street from them, but have not gone in the store since they moved.

I've heard very good things about the store in Waxahachie, my sister lives near there so I need to go sometime.

Aleida, you still live near me right? Let me know if you want to go and we can drive down there together.  And if we need to eat lunch down there I'm pretty sure my sister will let us take a break at her house.  She might even go with us.

Sara, did you and I chat a while back on a different forum?  When I first moved here, there was a girl, I think her name was Sara who always was at the Warehouse and she was very nice, but we lost touch.  I think she had a group that cropped there.

Sorry again to sound so negative, but I was not into the store and trust me, I like my supplies and shop, etc.  I do not go to the Barn, too expensive and they are not very friendly.  So I just shop online and wait for the box, feels like opening a present. ;)

I loved, loved Recollections.  It was not a job for me..it was fun and a learning experience. I miss my customers there.  I ran into a few of them at the Barn.  But again I don't go there. I just stay at home. Ha.  I still reside in Lewisville.  I'm game for a trip, let me know.

Okay Sara, now I know who you are.  Funny we never met in real life. You used to help me out with the stuff on my property---you would visit my blog.  Remember. I didn't know the names of the plants and shubbery and you told me to get a southern gardening book and I laughed so hard at that. Smarty!

Talked to MIL.  Her memory is not so awesome.  She couldn't remember the name of the store, but she said it was in Colleville.  (I'm not sure I spelled that right.  It's pronounced Collie-Ville)

they have a website. you can google that and the Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie which Alisa mentioned. one in Burleson, tx too, south of ft. worth.

we have two within 20 minutes of my town which is west of ft. worth. used to have 4! one of them is OK, if you can stand the dang potpourri and the other has just expanded has a ton of stuff but really caters to the local crowd (like, she'd never heard of October Afternoon when i was in there a few weeks ago. i spent $14). which is fine. i mean you gotta go with what sells.
