Sunday Sketch | Carson Riutta

This week, our Scrapbook sketch features a super colorful background, our Documenter sketch uses two cards and our Card sketch features an iconic stamp and die set. Get creative and be sure to share your projects here with us! We can't wait to see what you create! Today, Carson Riutta shares her take on the Scrapbook sketch.

This week, our Scrapbook layout comes from The Rainbow Page by Catherine Davis:

This week, our Documenter layout comes from Arendal Doc Kit Main by Mel Blackburn:

This week, our card comes from To the Moon by Keisha Campbell:

I absolutely fell in love with Catherine's scrapbook layout when it first appeared in the gallery and I may have squealed a bit when it appeared in my inbox as one of my sketch possibilities. It's simplicity is perfectly suited for cardmaking so I jumped at the chance to use it for inspiration. I began by layering the background with some wonky strips of paper from the Arendal paper pad. I then covered the background with a roughed up piece of vellum and a nest of white thread for some added texture, before placing the framed mini chalkboard in the center of the card. I built a small sentiment with the gorgeous Love Tickets stamp set and stamped that in white pigment ink onto the black card stock. The final touch was to add a few valentine themed word stickers from Carolina Moon's Lauren Add-on. Before adhering it all into place, I couldn't help but spend a little time sewing some horizontal lines across the card front. Nothing ever seems finished to me now until it has a bit of stitching on it.

Supplies : Kits - Arendal Scrapbook Kit, Lauren Add-on; stamp & die - Love Tickets by One Little Bird; ink - Color Box Frost White Pigment Ink; Paper - January Arendal Paper Pad, vellum, black card stock; other - white thread
